  1. Cheers Pete, have already been in touch with Vince although I don't want to go crazy money wise as already have two other engine builds in progress, building FI engines for both the Mk2 and the Mk3. This is just a stop gap engine to get the car back on the road (I've had mk3 sorn over 5 years now!) Thanks Daveyboy, would you recommend getting the Victor Rienz head bolts too advertised on there or are the standard Febi etc. ones ok? Is there a way to check its definitely a V Rienz gasket as I have one I got years ago and it may well already be the right one! Thanks for all the info guys, I've
  2. Hi all, Looking to get my head overhauled after suspected head gasket failure, was just going to get it skimmed but not knowing history of my spare head thought best to get it overhauled as well. wondering who you've used/recommend to overhaul/recondition the head whilst it's off. Not really looking to modify it as had one on a previous VR and for the money wasn't impressed (car felt worse!) Also what head gasket manufacturer are you guys recommending? Where's best to buy? Prices etc? Thanks in advance, Simon.
  3. Have you tried EBay mate, sure there was a guy who used to list these new? Simon.
  4. Cheers Mark, was pretty sure manifolds where same, just De-cat not sure about.... Anyone else? Simon.
  5. Anyone? Pretty sure manifolds are the same, just not too sure about the De-Cat.... Simon.

  8. Yes mate water temp sits at the same place all the time bolt up right as before. But my oil temp. seems to stay a LOT lower on the motorway now. Thats the only real difference I've noticed. Not done anything with the fans as yet. Simon.
  9. All sorted chaps, changed the Aux pump, as it was slowing , but real problem was the thermostat sticking, whacked a Neuspeed lower temp. one in there now and all is good again! Thanks for all the info. and advice peeps. Simon.
  10. The cars never EVER done this before though in 9 years of ownership. Including track days, long trips and short journeys? Simon.
  11. Thanks for that Pete, I'll get them ordered today. I spoke to Awesome about the 3 pin fan switch when I got my Thermostat and they said it was for 4 cylinder engines only? Simon.
  12. Cheers Pete, got a Neuspeed cooler thermostat to go in it so hoping that might be the problem. Anyone changed one before on the VR? Easy to do? Simon.
  13. Hello guys the last few times I've been out on a long run in the VR I've noticed the temp has been moving up towards the 100 mark (usually it sits dead straight up at 90) after a bit of motorway driving for longer than 1/2 an hour, I then have to whack the internal heater on to get it back down again :-( Both fans "seem" to be coming on at both high and low speed, although can't tell when I'm driving, but they do when its stationery but just not till its actually getting up over the 100 mark...... sure they used to come on earlier than that? I thought it may be the thermistat sticking but all
  14. LOL, don't be silly mate, there's a lot of cars that look more like mine than yours does that seem to be appearing lately! Simon.
  15. LOL, nice one mate, like the plate style too. I get ribbed all the time at work about mine looking like "LOVER" too. Damn jealous Tw4ts! Simon.
  16. Yeh should be ok, very very nice looking wheel. You'll want a 205/40/17 on them to get a nice lil stretch and see you clear of the arches. Get them on and pics up ASAP! Welcome to the forum by the way! Simon.
  17. Agree with the Toyo T1-R comments. A great performance and great value tyre. Simon.
  18. I've got rid of mine, there's a few options, either re fit your original ones in the scuttle panel (they don't work very well though) There are some that attach to the wiper arms themselves (these don't work if you have aero wipers though as I do) The other option which I'm currently looking into is too find some that attach to the under bonnet, or that give a better firing angle to locate in the scuttle panel. Simon.
