  1. well i had something happen like this. the previous owner had put in incorrect bolts and my mechanic told me about this when he installed my springs. I asked him to order some correct bolts for me. Anyway about 4 days later im sitting at a set of lights, take off in 1st to about 4krpm, shift to 2nd release clutch and *BANG*. I lost all drive and it just made a horrible grinding noise. got the car to the side of the road and had a look. It had sheared ALL of the bolts off on one side
  2. lots of water and shit in the fuel tank maybe..... mine seems to run like shit when it gets below the 7L indicator (red area). Im gonna get the tank cleaned at some point soon.
  3. well if it is the magnecors they have lifetime warranty so ur ok there
  4. i reckon its the leads. Mine was doing exactly what your describing and it would go pop pop pop as the unburnt fuel ignites in the exhaust due to misfire. Replaced the leads and plugs and its all good now.
  5. yeah did the same thing with mine as Russ did. Then went out for a run when it was 5c outside (cold for Australia) and holy crap did it make a difference... Low end torque increase was huge.
  6. go eibach springs (30mm drop) with Koni adjustable shocks (you can adjust how firm they are) I have this combo and my VR sits 105mm off the ground at the lowest point (front spoiler) and handles 1000 times better than stock
  7. check the basics, spark plugs and leads. Mine did this a while ago and it was because the 1st spark plug had a greasy buildup on it and was obviously not firing properly
  8. i opened the unit up today and it is soldered in so ill need to get someone to solder it in for me
  9. I am in australia and have a OBD1 1995 Golf VR6 and i was wondering if my ECU chip is soldered to the board or if it can be pryed out.
  10. mine does it all the time when ever i am decelerating or just come off throttle.
  11. heh just got mine back today from having a new thermostat and housing fitted. couple of days ago it just started pissing out coolant while i was sitting on a hill at a set of lights and a mate saw it dribbling down the hill and is like WTF
  12. im pretty sure its normal for VR6s to overfuel a wee bit on deceleration, and since i had my exhaust done (cat back) it is much more noticeable. On the fuel smell, when my compressor needed regasing it made a slight petrol smell when it was running but it wasnt pumping any cold air at all...
  13. well i was mildly surprised the other day when i came up against a brand new Subaru Forester XT 2.5L Turbo at a set of lights about 1am in the morning. he got a small jump off the line due to awd, but i then reeled him in and flew past him. next set of lights he just sat there looking at my VR All i have done to my VR is removed suitcase and got a decent muffler, and got a K&N Cone Filter with an aluminium heatshield so i was pretty happy having beaten a 170kw suby
