  1. I got the standard sony units in mine-though not same as yours-mine are XR6859RDS & CDX51/52/etc. I also have the manuals and they say to press the reset button with your message. If I recall correctly there should be a small hole behind the head unit after you detach it. just push a pen or something in there to reset it. Mark
  2. My standard fit 10 disc changer is on the back panel near the light unit on offside. first flat bit it can be mounted on. Don't think that's the only place it could be mounted tho and if I was doing it myself may choose somewhere different. HTH Mark
  3. Are you sure the motor has gone? I would have expected the rear window and sunroof to have seperate motors.
  4. Agree with most of what shail says but my standard VW alarm (logic) does have a slot. It's not in the same place as yours though - mine is in the glovebox and the alarm fob itself is slotted in there to turn the immobiliser off in emergencies such as a flat remote battery. It's possible this could be the same as yours with the different location being due it possibly being intended as a left hooker originally although to be honest it's more likely to be an aftermarket immobiliser. Mark.
  5. I was insured with sainsbury's for two weeks and got a good price. Then I had Konis and Eibachs fitted and told them. They cacelled my cover straight away. Mark.
  6. I've downloaded the pdf file and searched for that system-sorry to say it's not mentioned anywhere. Are there any other numbers/names it could be known as? Mark
  7. If your talking about koni top adjustables then yes it's easy to adjust the damping whilst on the car. I normally remove the parcel shelf supports but it could possibly be done without even these being removed. If you're talking about koni's with adjustable ride height then I can't help you. Someone else will probably be along soon though. Mark
  8. Watch out for the faster scooters though - this one outdrags a tuned trans am. http://www.kontraband.com/show/show.asp?ID=780&NEXTID=0&PREVID=796&DISPLAYORDER=20030619000000&CAT=movies&NSFW=

If they're not pitted I would have thought it'd shift it. Just rub on in a circular motion with a clean cloth and you'll see the dirt coming out as black marks on the cloth and wheel. As soon as you get that far (won't take long) buff it up with another clean cloth and you're done. I used to do my bike frame about two or three times a year and it always came up like a mirror. It helps protect the ally too so you're not constantly polishing them although wheels will get dirtier (brake dust, etc) than a frame.

Use "Belgom Alu" on polished ally. Should get it from any motorbike shop. I had a bike with a polished frame and it brought it up to a mirror finish. Not abrasive either and easy to use.
  11. I have same alarm- Logic 850/950 on a 97 VR6. My insurance company said that it was cat1 in 1997 but had since been "de-listed". I had a letter from a VW dealer saying what was fitted and that it was in full working order but the insurance company were having none of it. I ended up having a new immobiliser fitted to get insured. It sometimes seems as if the insurance companies and alarm fitters are in league with each other. I found this site http://www.thatcham.org/ which shows all standard vehicle alarms and on page 16 the VW logic is shown as de-listed. Not what you want to hear really b
  12. I've just snapped the plastic tool (on the bonnet stay) that's used for removing the ignition leads. I seem to recall people saying better versions were available anyway. Anyone got any idea where I can get one from? Mark.
  13. I still have the operating instructions for the Logic on mine and it says:- "The yellow LED inside the car should flash a certain number of times until you turn the ignition on. 2 flashes = boot or bonnet 3 flashes = volumetric detector 4 flashes = doors 6 flashes = ignition attempt" Hope this helps, Mark
  14. Yep I had problems posting in classifieds but managed it eventually. By the way it's not really a good idea to post autotrader links like that as it tells everyone your postcode.
  15. Mine are bust and are one year old. rwilkinsons are also bust but were originally fitted in 1994 and therefore 10 years old
  16. I'm in a similar position, though mine were damaged when I hit a pot hole and they're just over a year old. I was gonna replace them but found out there's a 3 year warranty on Koni's so thought I'd ask supplier how I stood. Here's his reply:- "Hello there Sorry to hear about the dampers. The normal warranty process is, if the dampers are less than a month old they are replaced. After that time new dampers have to be purchased and, the cost of carriage, fitting and parts are chargeable to the customer whilst the warranty process takes place. The warranty parts are then sent to the supplier fo

  18. Starter motor on ebay-currently £15. Don't know what they normally go for. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=9895&item=7903900334&rd=1
  19. Mine uses about a litre every 1000 miles which seems a lot to me. The owners manual though says it can actually use about this much. I spoke to a mechanic about it and he said it's worth using engine flush before doing an oil change-can free up anything that's sticking. I'm not convinced but I've given it a go anyway. Other than that just do as others have said and check regularly.
  20. Hi there and welcome. I've got the t/a koni's with eibach springs. I also had a Mk2 previously with a lowering kit and wasn't sure whether to go down the same route again but I'm happy now with the handling. It is a bit "choppier" than standard but I got used to it in no time and would do the same again. The car handles much better now. Can't help with the speed plus generator but I can tell you that the fault code connector is at the side of the ashtray. Take the ashtray completely out and slide the panel at the side towards the gap where the ashtray was. Hope this helps.
  21. I think you'll find it does have 6 spark plugs actually.
  22. Just got the rear discs from GSF last weekend-£43 for Zimmermans. Will be fitting this weekend my self. £312, with the pads and bearings also, sounds way too steep.
  23. Well it is according to this site anyway http://www.rac.co.uk/myrac/vehicle_data_check/
