  1. only way to tell is do it, if it keeps loosing charge then its a gonna...cost about £45 from halfords.
  2. it could be a very very worn out wheel bearing, bushes (as said), a damaged ball joint, or the hub to shock bolts are loose (theres camber adjustment in them, can only be done by a specialist) i dont think theres anything else...unless theres some serious accident damage. either way its a death trap and shouldn't be driven anywhere.
  3. its all mkIII cable change (02a) boxes i think, 8v has 020 but i wouldn't say its short shifting. i've yet to drive a vw with a nice gearchange as well, seems vw can't make good boxes.
  4. first you need to upload them onto a hosting site such as http://www.photobucket.com (you have to create a free account, then its pretty self explanatory what to do, but make sure they're under 25-kb in size or it'll resize them and the quality will become poor), then post the link into your post between {img} and {/img} but with the { and } brackets replaced by [ and ] brackets.
  5. i would lengthen the gearstick, but then i'd have a even longer throw. its about the max height now considering the already long throw, but shorten the throw and the height could be increased.
  6. but further from the wheel, which ain't good.
  7. I like the neuspeed kit and that set up sounds good' date='nice adjustable thick rear bar,MMmmmm!!Mike [/quote'] i think the best bit is that they come with uprated front arb links, which i don't think any other kit does. and the o.e. links aren't very strong, i've snapped both mine with a standard bar, now in my mind the uprated bars are gonna put more stress on them.
  8. does the b&m modify the actual gearstick, or does it go on the gearbox selector rod? any pics of it?

    Recaros

ebay...i've seen a few 'gti edition' red/black sets go for £200, with postage costing about £100. EDIT - just had a look at theres none at the mo. was loads a couple of weeks back. just check it every couple of days, if you put vw recaro you'll find them. also keep an eye on edition38 classifieds, and performance vw mag classifieds, thats where i got mine from. 10. that clicking sound happens when the batt is dead as a dodo, time for a new batt most likely.
  11. i imagine that is quite fun...i've never experienced a sharan vr6 (or a seat thingy or ford galaxy vr6 either) don't worry, we're all forever making typo's, there is an edit button by the way (top right of your post, pencil icon)
  12. that would suck i was about to say 'at least they didn't damage the paintwork' then i got to the last pic. to look on the good side it would have cost more if they'd keyed every panel. though windows aren't cheap i suppose.
  13. if theres nothing wrong with the engine before (i.e. no leaks or cracked leads) it should be fine. i steam cleaned with an industrial cleaner an old nova engine bay years ago, came up like brand new (and i mean like brand new) but ran on 3 cylinders all the way home as the inlet gasket leaked! was fine a few hours later tho.
  14. you shouldn't push start any car that has a cat, it can damage it. auto's are a no-no regardless. whats the probs with starting? i had a prob with starting previously that turned out to be battery, despite a garage saying it was the starter. it would not turn over, then would all of a sudden turn over and start if i kept persistantly trying.
  15. nope but as always crank the engine a few times without the fuel pump fuse in to get the oil circulating.
  16. i don't the standard alarm is cat 1 apporved, so you'll still have to get another immob. FYI immobs = cat 2, alarm/immob = cat 2
  17. i think the 1.8t is actually less fuel efficient than the vr6. i know that the version in the S3 is.
  18. its need bleeding if whilst removed the piston in the bolt moves out (cause its let air in) you stand it on its end, then you poke a very thin, but rigid, wire through the little hole (centre of a tv aerial cable is perfect for it) and fiddle around until you depress the little valve in there. then the piston can be pushed (very easily) in. its a right fiddly procedure and will piss you off very quickly, its very hard to find the valve...but the piston will go in with hardly no pressure at all once you have. phatvr6 does it with the bolt in a cup of oil i believe.

    Recaros

i'm always sceptical about stuff thats too cheap. the quality won't be at recaro standard thats for sure, and slapping a recaro badge on a non-recaro is tacky.
  20. i have an aftermarket cat2 immob as well as my o.e. alarm, so didn't have to explain the alarm to them thankfully. come to think of it they never even wanted to see the certificate. just say it has ntohing then! [ Edited Sun Nov 07 2004, 09:53AM ]
  21. no idea, theres a guy who may know in the cgti alarm section, stud-something. surely you can just say its a standard larm and they'll be happy with that?
  22. was the bolt tesnsioner...you lucky bugger! lol obd2's shouldn't have a wear issue on the runners as they have a single row top chain. did you have a look down as at the lower runners? i bet the bolt tensioner hadn't been bled when the last person took it out.
