well, usually mkIII golf ones aren't very nice. i have a mkVI polo one (and the girlie is soon to have a polo mkV one on her polo mkIV, thats if she prefers it. the mkV polo one is the same as mkIV golf i think - anyone confused yet?! lol) may as well post the pics up of my one again in case anyone else wants to see them.... sorry about the poor pics, but its better than nothing.
  2. from what i understand its only available on WR1's (which are '04 model) and the latest verson of the WRX STi Type-UK (the to be '05 model). but thne mike appears to suggest his had it, but that was an import.

    thats not bad actually
  4. i don't think it does have a realy. if you just turn the ignition on and put you finger on it you should feel it vibrating (tho you should be able to hear it as well)

    Recaros

nope...i got mine from a bloke of performave vw clasifieds..for just over £100
  6. though only carnoissuers know the difference! everyday people don't. its not necessarily a bad thing a car being common tho' date=' usually theres a very good reason for it, i.e. the car is bloody good. [ Edited Sat Nov 13 2004, 10:34AM ']
  7. mike - you had engine probs with yours didn't you? i was told (bya scooby tuner actually) that tuning them was a bad idea as they become fragile, but a '97 as standard is pretty bomb proof. surely this would explain why yours wasn't reliable? antera - hows the balance, i heard versions without the adjustable centre diff had a lot of understeer? i can confirm they're mental in the wet...tried keeping up with one in the wet and although i managed it, he wasn't pushing that hard and i was driving the wheels off the vr, getting to the quite funny angles! lol
  8. i'm pretty sure the '97'99 normal ones are 220bhp. i have a feeling that scoobs are like vr6's though, usually kick out more than standard.
  9. i had 42mpg once...always a good tirck to reset the meter when you're already moving.
  10. no offence meant, but i don't think anyone who owns a golf can moan about a type of car being too common
  11. yep, fair point about porsche's being suitable everyday drivers.
  12. ok, i came soo close to buying a scooby once, but it was just slightly out my price range. avoid pre '97 versions, they're not very reliable and aren't that nice. plus they only have single pot brakes (well, the wrx may have different ones). all WRX's were imports until the big-eyed shape AFAIK. i'd recommend tryin to find a '97 to '99 (different grill and interior to earlier ones) normal turbo for that money, they're the mega reliable ones, but don't mod any scoob or it will break loads. i drove a bug eyed one and a '99 turbo...the older one was mental, it is such a confidence inspiring car f

  14. yeah, thats a bad idea..its basically a bomb. do you need the airbag, or just the wheel? cause if you have your current airbag just use that to save posting a hazardous item.
  15. yep' date=' thanks hannah [ Edited Fri Nov 12 2004, 10:59AM ']
  16. none are ever for sale though! i got mine from leicester. actually, i reckon south wales is where all the best cars are, so far me and my friends have bought a few from there (inc my girlies polo) and they've all been in awesome consition and at a very good price! for £100k i'd be having a scooby, a caterham, and an older ferrari!
  17. i'd wait for a colour concept interior (if i like leather that is), normal sports seats are awful..recaros are a must IMO.
  18. they cost shit loads new, but tend to go on ebay for very little...no one wants them see. too big a wheel, to small a rim. what you really want is mk3.5 cabrio one, but they're like gold dust.
  19. ...with the vr6. moved it out the garage the last couple of days, as i needed to spray stuff for the mkII shed, and it started and ran fine. so today i got more cocky and drove across town to pick up my mum from work (she killed the 'box on her cav), scared the hell out of her on the way back as well! anyway, having had no probs i took it to drop a mate off and then proceeded to drive around till the petrol almost ran out, listening to me abba cd! i loved it, it felt so new, refined, smooth, comfy (recaros, yum!), and the torque...oh, the torque. felt like a sports car after the mkII. i know t
  20. oh, i see loads of vr6's everyday here as well...usually late standard mint ones driven by 40 year old women for some reason!
  21. i see at least 10 911's or boxsters per day. they never have been that exclusive...not in the way a ferrari is anyway. the entry level porsche boxster is only like £38k i think, where as a new ferrari doesn't start below £100k...hence why their rarer. plus ferraris cost mega money to service (my mates dad just had one costing £6k!) but i lust after a ferrari in a way i never could for a posche.
  22. surely it could be either even if you get low compression still?
  23. alternator squeeking? my mkII does that [ Edited Thu Nov 11 2004, 12:47PM ]
