  1. i've got a similar niggle with my vr6...well, it hasn't done it for a while actually (not that i'm using it at the mo). it would start, do a few rpm then just die. totally intermitant, and it even started cutting out a few times. i've changed ecu relay/fuel pump relay...i still haven't got to the bottom of it. mate had a similar thing on a gti and it was two things...ecu relay was causing it to cut out whilst driving, and it turned out it was the aftermarket immobiliser interfearing with the factory immob causing the starting prob...obd2's have a chip in the key.
  2. yep...vw's line is that the chains never need touching! lmao! this vr6 did not tick or rattle at all before failing...it was totally out the blue, and was whilst the car was being driven very slowly at low revs! its hard to know the exact condition of the lower runners, but you can check on the condition of the top runners fairly easily...remove the upper inlet manifold, then cam cover...see if you can see them and if you need more visibility take the bolt tensioner out the back of the top chain cover, then remove the coil pack and additional water pump then remove the top cover. that should
  3. can you be sure there were no foreign objects in the container you kept the oil? if it were me i wouldn't take the risk...but yep, it is a good idea to use a thicker oil whilst bedding in engines.

    and work

getting fired cause your boss, whilst pretending to your friend, is secretly stabbing you in the back....because she feels threatened due to you being better at the work than she is.
  5. now if only we could make a real one (prob best to be a three door) that runs on electric...they be the best kid's toys ever!
  6. this is enough of this on the forum...you've got PM. [ Edited Thu Jan 20 2005, 01:21AM ]
  7. i think you must think i've spent more than i have...in total i'm at about £5k on the vr6, inc buying it....now thats a lot less than a '97 on scoob (and i dont like earlier ones). and just to clarify...i do like my vr6, it just frustrates me sometimes...the winding up bit is the only real thing i dislike about the cars performance, but its not that bad. maybe i give you guys the wrong impression, or maybe you misunderstand me. just do us a favour and don't judeg me when you don't know me.
  8. yep, and yep...they bug me as well. though i have been known to pass in the left lane (whilst 'giving the bridie')

    in life

well, you two are easy to sort out - change network and/or phone or move! i can honestly say that i canm count on one hand the number of times i've been out of signal with my vodafone/sharp/berks combo in the last year...and once was on the train to brummie! ...get a spare battery quite a few things really bug me in life - stupid people' date=' people who are on MY bit of road, and my mother (tho she comes under the stupid person bit)...in fact, my whole family. 10. everyone and anyone who wants my bit of road! lmao
  11. what we really need is active topics, a la cgti.
  12. i was under that was the standard clutch eat this....with a helix they're ok to 400ib ft!
  13. they wouldn't have a clue even if it did! lol
  14. nah..once the engine/box is out its easy...gearbox is easy to remove, as is everything else.
  15. drain plug is on bottom of diff. fill plug is on the front of the gearbox about half way up. 17mm allen key...but you can use a wheel bolt and a spanner. i'd remove the fill plug first in case it wont come out, as if you'd already drained it you'd be screwed. you'll need a long tube and funnel to get it in by the way, its fiddly to get to...make sure the car is level when you fill it as well, and fill it till it starts to come out the fill plug.
  16. i needed just over two bottles of redline in mine. prob safer to buy 3.
  17. cause i couldn't afford a scooby! lol
  18. think yellow flags is everyone, sure admin is aware of it and trying to sort it. sure it wasn't just a delayed e-mail, and that you'd already read the PM by the time you got it?
  19. HOLD THE PRESS - you can get vauxhall monaros for £23,500 already...weren't they supposed to be £35k? give it a few months and they'll be £15k and they'll be the obvious choice for people in R32/scoob territory!
  20. the mkIV ones are identical but half an inch narrowe i think....will make no difference. as they are vw original equiptment wheels i'd be surprised if they needed spigot rings...my bbs solitudes certainly don't.
  21. you could whip the inlet manifold/cam cover/coilpack/add water pump/tensioner bolt/top chain cover off (in that order) and have a look at the condition of them yourself first.
  22. yep...i almost fell for this one when i got my bentley manual. there are a few small differences between uk and us spec...sadly this is one of them.
  23. no i haven't, i'm sure its very good and has a lot of developement compared to out mkIII vr6's...but its still a hell of a lot of money for a vw though, at the mo. just to clarify, i wasn't comparing the scoob to a R32 by the way, i was just saying they don't need winding up unlike our (non-schricked) vr's. some people prefer cars that need winding up though....can't understand it myself for a road car.
