  1. sounds like it has a rod change (as its a mechanical link to the box and thus engine, as the engine wobbles slightly the stick will too), but all vr6's come with cable change (which won't wobble as theres only cables between the stick and the box). if it is a rod change box, i'd see it as an advantage (as long as its fitted properly) as the standard cable change box is very lazy when you change gears, and has a really long throw.
  2. never understood the obsession with slamming cars to the deck, makes them handle worse, makes the rife harsh, and is really unpractical. especially don't understand why anyone would do it to a vr6, its a waste. the vr6 is a (relative) perfromance car, you need to keep it that way, otherwise you may as well have got a gti. i think it looks just right in the pics gusto.
  3. well, this manual box you're gettin put in, has it got standard ratios? cause the vr6 is held back by poor ratio's, if you get different gears and final drive put in, then it'll feel like you've gained bhp. phatvr6 is the expert, i'm sure he'll comment on this soon. but the diff will make it much quicker...tho don't even think about lifting off mid-corner, or you'll regret it as you go off the road backwards (lsd's need the throttle on for them to work)
  4. you reckon they'll be open tomorrow (fri) steve? and what part of london?

i'm 23. half office worker, half racing driver (or more accuratly, tryin to be racing driver - wanna give me some money so i can go racng?).had my vr6 about a year now.
  6. you'll have to change the tyres to 205/40/17, or you may get away with 215/40/17, and i think they'll be ok (may get slight rubbing). someone will undoubtably confirm this in a mo.
  7. yeah, i was about to say that...there's only two types of vr6 engine, 12v and 24v...all mkIII's/'rado's are 12v, with mkIV/bora/r32 being 24v. basically, you either get 2/4/5 (5 is very very rare)valves per cylinder, a mkIII vr6 has 6 cylinders, and two valves per cylinder, so a total of 12 valves. thought i'd explain it, you seemed confused (appologies if it was a typo instead)
  8. what year is your vr6? if its obd1 (pre late '95), have a look here... http://www.vr6golf.co.uk/forum_viewtopic.php?2.6280.0#8283 ...you don't need vag-com
  9. bilstein sprintline are good ride, but i've decided i'm gonna get a gmax kit when i can be bothered - i don't wanna spend silly money, and want ride quality.
  10. to be fair, the vts will give the vr6 a run for its monay...but who really cares, it's a french pile of poo! would like to have a long runway to see what happens beyond the 100mph mark tho
  11. bhp is for bragging down the pub, torque is what wins on the street! thats the main reason the schrik is soo good....but sort the 'box first (different final drive, and a diff), and sort the suspension before that!
  12. silly silly people...there is nothing wrong with the power, performance, torque if the vr6...it's the gearbox ratio's that let it get wipped by some embarrasing cars...but this is also the reason why it will drive along at 140mph all day! 1.8t...sounds like a diesel...and which do you think will last longer, 1.8t or a vr6?
  13. only '92 cars came with a dizzy, '93 onwards have a coilpack...but are still obd1 until the end of '95. there is a way of telling by looking at the engine, something to do with the MAF i think, but am unsure. i'd bet it's still and obd1 tho, as they'd have had to change the loom to make it obd2 AFAIK.
  14. not really, just sounds like noisy tyres.
  15. yeah, but we get a lot more crap weather! and they're annoying in the dark. each to there own i suppose.
  16. we're in england not california...get the point?
  17. most garages will have the facility to check the disgnostics...but, you can do it your self on a '92 (obd1) vr6...i've posted it on the forum, search for my post and it'll tell you what to do.
  18. it will effect your insurance, as you're basically making the car less sfae (in their eyes).
  19. coolant drain plug is on the bottom of the straight black tube above the oil cooler (carp explanantion, sorry, hope you get what i mean)
