  1. well, he keeps talkin about how nice he thinks vr6's are at the mo!
  2. well, they ain't nice, but when you do loads to a nova (as my mate has) they can be a lot of fun. his spec is..1.6 8v, fully lightened and balanced, flowed head, high lift cam, throttle bodies, custom ecu, race mounts, bilstein susp, poly bushes, big brakes, and i know theres loads i have missed. it should have about 150-160bhp!!! and he ain't a typical nova driver (ie he can really drive!)
  3. a mate needs to know the order the leads go onto the coilpack on a mkIV. its a sagem type coilpack, but don't know what engine its from (he's puttin it on a nova!). any ideas?
  4. well, it ain't been workin for ages, but the MOT has just expired. had the fault codes checked a while back, and it said 'speedo sensor not working'. anyway, changed the sender, and checked that the spinny thing in the box was ok. just drove the car and its still not workin (yes, thats correct, i drove my car today fro the first time in 8 weeks!)...so, new clocks time?
  5. sounds a bit max power like to me, which will probably mean very little track time, and a lot of poor driving.
  6. hey speedo, what part of wycombe do you live in? whats your motor?
  7. maidenhead, berkshire...south east. bet most people are up north!
  8. £1500-£3000, dependent on how well its been looked after.
  9. not mine...every other bolt rounds!
  10. i was thinkin it may be possible to get to the upper blade. but my thermostat housing is stuck on. my upper blade is starting to look fairly worn, what happens when theres no metal on it then?
  11. is it really worth it tho? whats the gains? wouldn't it be better to get a 6 speed conversion with custom ratios and an atb or lsd, and a schrik?
  12. i'll stick with my o.e. one (got a spare that'll be getting chromed soon)....but then my o.e. one isn't the twin downswept pea shooters that most vr's seem to have.
  13. try elephant, then add loads of extra named drivers (as long as they're older than you, and have a clean licence)...watch the quote plummet!

if you don't want them, i'll have them?! lol
  15. £600 plus fitting (an quaife only do an ATB (torque biasing diff), as opposed to a LSD (limited slip diff)...but the atb is better anyway!)
  16. interesting stuff kev. one thing to correct you on tho...the theory of obd2's (or highlines) being more powerful is actually a myth, see the rolling road results on here.
  17. ok, i'll fix the exhaust manifold, check the isvm, then try again! i'm thankful that the chain hadn't slipped (as first thought).
  18. well, they were fine before we took everything apart. the only weird thing is there is a leek from the manifold (where it joins the downpipe)...but would that cause the car to 'shut-down'?
  19. ...then it kept stalling after a min of idling (which it wouldn't do at first). can sometimes here a noise like a relay clicking just before it stops. it is like the ecu is cutting it out, like a sfaety mode). any idea's? (oh, and thanx to oakgreen88 from cgti for getting it going! [:Y:] )
  20. well, start by removing the shelf, and see if that gives you enough access...if not, then work out how to remove the airbag (good luck!).
  21. yeah, i remove my glove box and feed all the wiring thorugh...but if you've got an airbag you may be able to get reasonable access by removing the shelf.
  22. which means you'll have a real struggle to get the power down...good luck in the wet! maybe you should invest in a qualife atb?
  23. i've heard conflicting reports, but i'm sure i read somewhere that it uses the abs sensors to work out when the inside wheel looses traction, then locks the diff, or somethin like that. it's def not traction control, its more of a diff thing.
  24. i've never noticed a noise! it uses the abs sensors, then locks the diff, or something. i'd rather have a proper lsd, or, even better, a atb (torque biasing). but i can't afford £600 for one!
