I must be a lurker , or a step under that! My name is Bill. I've been into vws since the early 70"s, Bought a 2003 vr6 after working on one for a friend. I was so impressed by the power I thought I had to have one. I also have a vw syncro that I was going too use as parts car for the suspension for a MGA project. A guy that rents half of my garage didnt tell me how rare they are so now I'm debating the idea. This car is second owner from NC. and is all original, didnt mean that much to me. After my renter looked at it I dont think I can rip it apart. So guess back to the drawing board on my2 points

Engine rebuild
Ickyketseddie reacted to printedflunky for a topic
My VR started running like an angry badger last week so I took it to a VW specialist and they called me a few hours later telling me that it was either a burnt valve or a piston ring had shat itself either way I was looking at having to shell out a lot of cash to repair a 182000mile vehicle, so I did wht any sane person would do; I ordered: a new block 6 new standard pistons a set of genuine piston rings a set of genuine gudgeons a genuine set of wrist pins an R32 crank and a set of custom made conrods (5.8mm shorter than standard) also sent a spare head I had lying around to a cylinder head t1 point -
I'll double check that mate. I'll only be using it till the spring then I'll sell it on and hopefully make a few quid on it and put it into my turbo fund but shhh don't tell my wife lol Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk1 point

Got the passenger side all welded up this week,it seemed pretty solid when I stripped off the wing and side skirt.....I was wrong the bit of surface scabs had started going all the way through, thanks to all of the crap that had collected behind the splash guard after 17 years off driving! This is what I found after cleaning off the paint; Cut a bit of sill out to have a look inside and found this; Ended up cutting a lump of inner sill out and putting some thicker plate in there to strengthen the jacking point but forgot to take photos! Then just used the front section of the pattern sill as t1 point

Works out a lot cheaper for me this way. I get all parts trade discount and do work my self one of my mates does smart repairs paint chips etc.. And I know a very cheap welder who does a brilliant job as he restores cars for a living so pretty lucky tbh.1 point

Ultimate Dubs 2014 - Indoor Display Confirmed!
Ickyketseddie reacted to VR6Pete for a topic
Hi All, We have just received news from Ultimate Dubs that we have a confirmed indoor display stand at the event :-) It was a bumpy few days as the standard of cars are very high this year and they are having less club stands inside this year, however after further discussions and providing more details on our cars we now have a confirmed spot indoors and passes. Ultimate Dubs will send out passes a couple of weeks before the event! Get those cars finished / and polished to perfection guys and lets do the club proud Thanks and well done to those selected once again. Pete1 point -

Couple of photo's to keep this alive Got this back from Dougie @ TRIX a while back and here it is: Messy but functional: DDI Dials: Yellow Headlights: So apart from a few small hiccup's everythings great! Averaging around 27MPG and running 10psi - Boost is really addictive and it surprises a lot! In love with the sound of the screamer pipe! The main hiccup was getting it running after it had been filled up with fuel - Dougie came to the rescue and spent his sunday working on it (Cant thank him enough for this, the man is an absolute lifesaver!) It turned out the uprated fuel pump i1 point
