spanky 0
I think the new high end tax only applies to vehicles purchased after today! So hopefully we should still pay (or should that be robbed) what we did/were before!! don't quote me on that though!
pimpcat 0
not to worry u but i think the Vr6 will go to the £210 bracket or very close as it is in the last emissions band producing 199g/km
Zonda_ 0
B reg will never be tax exempt. The 25 year rule was dropped and it only applies to cars that were 25 years+ at the time of the ruling.
goonersteve 0
£210??!!!!!!! Shit, what are you guys currently paying then?

thegoth 5
not to worry u but i think the Vr6 will go to the £210 bracket or very close as it is in the last emissions band producing 199g/kmI've read somewhere today that it will be >250g/km. But of course that only applys to newer cars > 2001. For older cars I think ( hope and pray ) they will introduce a new band for engine sizes above X.Place your bets now as to what X might be. Fingers crossed for 2995cc.TG
vr6matt 0
They should stop taking the fact that the roads are to busy out on the law abiding (in most respects) motorist, and start looking at the real problem....Imagrants and Refugees crusing around with thier whole family in a car which cost under £100 (usually a vauxhall senator or mazda 323) with no insurance, tax, or MOT. They drive around on thier foreign lisence which they claim is "valid" in the UK, how can they think thier foriegn lisence is valid in the UK when the main form of transport in thier home town was a donkey or tractor? Then they hit your car and drive off.... nice

Earwig 89
I thought the top road tax would only be applied to like super cars that produce higher emmissions. ?Things Like Hummers and top end Bently's and Rolls Royces. As far as I am aware the VR6 will not be in this bracket.......But I could be wrong. Seademon 0
I doubt it - they'll try and sting as many people as possible!I did alright though - just put an offer in on a flat thats £123k & stamp duty's been raised to £125k saving me £1230 - cheers!I expect everyones tax with a VR will go up around £20 or something unless these new bands mean something because they dont to me! I only use mine at the weekends really, takes the p*ss that I should pay the same as someone who does 5 times the miles as me but thats the british government for you - we either live with it or we move out of the country. antera309 3
Bottom line is this:Road tax on all Golf Mk3 VR6s & Corrado VR6s goes up from £170 to £175 a year.Road tax on the earliest Golf Mk4 4Motions registered before 1/3/01 also goes up from £170 to £175 a year. For Mk4 4Motions, Mk4 R32s & Mk5 R32s registered between 1/3/01 and 23/3/06, road tax increases from £165 to £190 per year.Golf Mk5 R32s registered after 23/3/06 will get clobbered at the highest rate of £210 per year. A little unfair as the highest band was supposed to be for large engined 4x4s & executive saloons.Once again, it's all good news for the Mk4 R32's residuals.I'm becoming damn glad I chose to renovate an older VW rather than buy a new one and get shafted at every turn. If the main dealers don't get you, the Government will.
