mike 6 Posted November 14, 2005 Report Share Posted November 14, 2005 What was your 1st car? how old was you, what did you pay insurance, did you mod it?i had a 93 1.4 golf CL at 20, (in 2002) had 64k on it sold it with 80k 3 years later. put 17s on it lowered 40mm, exhaust, debadged it all round ect, 17s did slow it down even more lolpaid 1500 fully comp !sad twice as much as i pay for a modded VR now !dodge loved the car tho had nearly no problems in 3 years, was slow as feck but got twice as many mpg as i get in the VR.[imgl]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v458/galvam1ke/fntnew1sml.jpg Link to post Share on other sites
Jezza 0 Posted November 14, 2005 Report Share Posted November 14, 2005 still have my 1st car. going soon though. modded it wrong. got into the vw way of modding too late. but its the bottom of the range 1.4 golf. modded too. lowered 40mm 17's changed rear lights (what to shall remain annonimous) exhaust, sound sytem cat 1 alarm. it has 44000 miles. so it has done me fine. a vr has to be done though. This was back in 1995 when you could still find a one owner from new mk2 Escort, with a two door shell, for only a few hundred quid! seadog 0 Posted November 14, 2005 Report Share Posted November 14, 2005 i had a severley rotten mk2 fiesta 1.4s, bigger weber carb, kent cam, ashley exhaust, rollcage, sparco seats ( cost more than double the car!! %-6 ), harnesses and pepperpots!, yes i actually bought a set!! and the best bit, the springs were cut down to less than half!!i had all the rite bits just picked the worst shell possible, was a fun car to drive tho, used to beat xr2`s no bother!! ended up in a ditch after bein a bit to adventurous wi the liftoff oversteer, was good practice tho!! it cost me 200 to buy the original car and over a grand to insure!! %-6 Link to post Share on other sites

francisjonno 2 Posted November 15, 2005 Report Share Posted November 15, 2005 First car at 17 was an 87' Mk2 Polo Coupe S bought with 37k (not bad for a 11 yr old car!) sold with 76k(Pictured at Inters 2002)Fitted with 15" RH, GTI/Scirocco brakes, piper cam,electric fuel pump, DIY polished head, single silencer system (v unusal sound but i loved it at the time!)... and much much more. Pretty much everything got replaced and power up to a mighty 85bhp !amazed (felt like a rocket to me back then!). Far too much money spent but a good intro to dubs Link to post Share on other sites
