Little update , been mega busy at work so little chance to play .. My aux water pump packed up so I decided to get another n slap that on .. I was getting pressure in my coolant system n couldn't figure it out so I decided to try a rad as there on offer at £50 plus my old bottle was looking rather w*nk so got a new one from Tps n a cap .. Pressure issues seem to of gone .. The old pump when took apart was ok , bearings shot but I think the brushes were dead in all honesty .. Not investigated the rad as yet I imagine it's the original n full of shit ... So basically in last 5 weeks a whole new -
i take my hat off to you .. rattle cans arent as bad as people make out .. bodywork is 95% prep as youve shown . do you run the hobby mig on gas or flux wire? i have a lovely 275 super mig and its great for thin stuff on the lower settings but i agree its an art .. pannel rip from heat-sink is a common sight ..

Another turbo thread(please read it's different)

ye but a 35 is hardly small if hes is after a limited space build ... -
as said clutch n chains.. crack pipe ( front of block ) ... is the throttle body part of the inlet or does it un bolt ? if its 1 piece 99% obd1

if u had a clunk it will morethan likely be a shattered cv or a dead shaft ... shortest shaft being the 1 that supplies drive .. or clutch but would say shaft from wat u describe

realistically a maf -less system will be standalone management and it would be sensible to convert to Map sensor as its a more accurate way to get the desired readings , as for space there is the age old turbo argument .. kit also depends on manifold and weather u go bottom mount or parallel .. personally a Td05 from an evo is wat i shall be running , upgrades are a good idea .. personally id save an build as best as you can afford ... -
if you ring up VW or TPS car parts and ask if they could help you, if you give the chassis number they will tell you what parts numbers are specific to your chassis code. OBD1 will be twin top chains if im not mistaken . my personal choice would be to buy OE if you can or at least make of very highly quality as its not a job youd want to do again twice in a hurry .. check the timing case covers aswell as people have a tendency to over tighten bolts in them and strip threads and casues oil leaks. plus get a new rear main seal

I run a completely straight through system with just a back box , about 2.5" .... its loud BUT its sounds EVIL coming through the gears

Running a short runner on a turbo setup reduces pipe work and as it's kept shorter it reduces lag so improves turbo spool , creates more room Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Header tank cap ? Pressure in pipes ?
Jakeyb replied to Jakeyb's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Not lost coolant . Oil fine , coolant perfect colour , no contamination what so ever . Was loosing coolant of the release under the black cover at the back of the tank that covers the 10mm's . Sniff test done and was negative . Miss was no existent today so I'd say was a damp issue or arking . Again today no over heating , fans kicking in fine , pipes still under pressure , but no coolant loss . .. Aux pump not working properly though , fuses checked on fan module , bridged the yellow coolant sensor plug and it didn't put fans or aux pump on .. Maybe a wiring fault on that side of things Sen -
I'm sure this car was sent to test me !! Started the car after work was fine , drove it and had a smallish misfire cleared after 5 secs .. Had been raining so presumed damp coil as had it before. In the morning was fine , again after work same thing, got home n checked pipes, loads of pressure .. Waited still there. Thought if I run the car , stat would open.. Fans would kick in .. Pressure would go.. Didn't work , left it an hour... Took cap off loads of pressure left . I noticed when I squeeze either rad hose and I have my ear to the bottle I can hear air escaping out the over flow on th

Had some help today my little rascal decided to help me stone chip the sills n rear aches .. Put the skirts back on .. Got an issue with the drivers door dropping so new pins from VW this week aslong as they still do them ... Plus I had to make a " modification " to one of my intake pipe for a re circ for the catch tank as it was venting to atmosphere so was pointless ... Plus filling the cabin with fumes . Found a rip in the carpet so I'll be buying a new one lol . Sunroof next payday n need to fabricate a few things ... It's got to me a touch this week but soon as I get a little van for work -

No mate I'm going turbo , but realistically there wouldn't be an issue running a shorter intake on an a n/a anyways Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
New VR6 owner needs ome advice
Jakeyb replied to suffolkvr6's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
nope .. under the coil pack at the back there is a water pipe that will be touching the rear ignition lead... if you do it in the dark with bonnet open you'll see it jumping ... cable tie the water hose slightly out the way and it will disappear .. if thats u owe me a pint -

Fitted my catch tank yesterday and my HID's ... 6000k .. What a difference . Just got to upgrade main beam . Then the postie bought my short runner inlet manifold . Cars gone for welding this morning so skirts will be back on tomorrow after a liberal dose of stone chip on the outers and inners !! A good clean inside and out .. Refurb rims n coilovers .. Then just the sunroof too tackle !! Ordered a new roll cab for work ... Turned up today .. 3ft tall including the top box ... I was pissed!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
tried removing the stalks for the sake of 5 mins and getting some contact cleaner out>?

New VR6 owner needs ome advice
Jakeyb replied to suffolkvr6's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
could of been sticking thermostat , could of had a small air lock from standing and spat it out .. ( check coolant level) . if left running the VR6 should have twin stage fans so you should see them cutting in at least once. maybe a faulty fan control module ,, lots of possibilities time to do some diagnostics and fault finding. -
if it was fine before you changed these and then your down on 2 pots it could be a miss reading .. plus the garage could of made a mistake .. there only human after all. best thing to do is to take it to an other garage and get a wet and dry compression test done as that will help to indicate if you have problem with the rings or not .. then again ask for a leak down test as this should highlight if its a problem with the valves .. and finally you could get a sniff test done on the coolant bottle and this will detect emissions in the coolant and indicate a leak from cylinder to water jac
