when i picked my vr6 up it sat at 70 n wouldn't get warm untill left to stand still .. didnt over heat.. soon as it was driven it cooled down again n the heaters were colder than they should be ... ive changed the stat n crack pipe and bled it up aswell as it would allow me ... left it sat for 20 mins ticking over.. fans kicked in n out which indicated the thermostat was working and opening as i watched the coolant bottle and the level dropped shortly before the fans.. the water pump was returning water to the bottle and when the throttle is applied the water return speeds up .. tried t

well little update... i picked up my GTI for parts and returned the VR6 interior back into working condition plus i fitted the headlights and fixed all the wiring ... fixed the dropped drivers door. fixed the handles n locks .. fixed the electric mirror .. only thing left is the welding .. re fit the skirts and fix the oil leak from the oil cooler housing ... then its TURBO TIME -
sorry to resurrect this , looking at the pic of the twin scroll using the standard headers, i was wondering once it has been tacked in place and all is well how to you go about actually welding the whole way around the mani tubes where they cross as its looks like there is little too zero access .. same with the T3 flange fitment as obviously you have to weld around the tubes but then where they meet in the middle aswell.. but access again looks tighter than tight. excuse my questions just its something i am sure i could do as i have the welding ability just not the know how about making m

i loctited my flywheel bolts n did um up with my trusty snap on 18v .. then jsut did my clutch bolts up as i would of usually on any other car .. not had an issue ( fingers crossed) the flywheel bolt pattern did have me puzzled for 2 mins though ill give u that

going cast now .. are the cheapies any good .. saw your thread.. was it an expensive one you ran ?

im going to get my own mani made up ... i need a T3 flange but have only seen mild steel availble on the net plus i need the template for the exhaust manifold where it bolts onto the head... as once i have both of these it should be easy to make some progress... is everyone running external wastgate aswell as i was just going to try and use the one already on my turbo as i hear this is the main place tubular mani's crack? plus im running a td05HR off an evo8 ... its off an fq300 so it should be adequate to get me up and running but again i need to find a flange for the exhaust side to ena

as in for sale or u mean for reference for me purchasing? had a little brain wave earlier .. i was trying to sell my evo 8 MRfq300 turbo the other week... then came the idea when i was looking at cheap shit .. use the turbo n elbow.. by a standard downpipe n extend the stem ... get a tubular mani knocked up by someone i kno ... get the same bloke to make my short intake manifold n im half way there as ill be able to use the standard feed n return lines on the turbo .. well the fittings at least n get some extended hoses knocked up at Pri-tek i think it is by me ... n im even close

Well she's still on the ramp ... As I'm going to have to fix the oil leak that has sprung up .. Plus the welding that's gonna want doing .. Then there's the fucked rear engine mount .. And the knackered headlight .. Then the door that's got a knackered latch .. BUT she fired up n ran lovely with the new service bits n a bit of fuel cleaner she'll be game for a bit of fun next week I hope ... Just looks like I'm Going to have to keep it !! yes was checked but was dark cold , plus missus was waiting in the car .. parents looking after child n so on n so on ... must be diff final drive or maybe bell housing swapped onto diff box fark knows... yes "sick tyres" should of set off alarm bells but it dint ... ah well all for the love of cars!

this is true but as my little lad is my world as the same with all parents id hope i would of been left with no choice but to deal with it how i saw fit .. but the fact still remains the car should not of had a ticket on it as and such tomorrow i guess will be the day where i either go searching for some inner n outer sills myself or book it in n get some1 to pick up the tab... everybody has a friendly mot tester and to be honest if a car is bought in n inspected and its something that doesn't affect the safety of the vehicle and you know for a fact its going to be repaired or replaced th

-
just f*cked me off some 1 would stick a ticket on something as bad as that or be stupid enough to give one out without seeing the car and some 1 sell it on .. if id out my lad in it and then seen it id probably be awaiting a trail date about now.. plus its getting in the way of my progress as im seriously debating charging ot turboing and sourcing parts but i need the rest of the car done first.

see my mates a tester and i know a few others , Vosa are on the testers side granted .. but if there is one thing Vosa does not like its rott .. and i know from some onle close tome that they had to pay 600 odd quid to recitify a problem over a so called dodgy Mot .. well it will be interesting tomorrow to say the least.
-
to be honest i would carry the repairs out if i had time but i dont plus i think id be happy even if they paid for the labour bill n bought the sills!! but im gonna try my hardest to get a few quid outa him as im 900 into this golf now n with the floor n sill repairs its gonna be about 80-90 a side for sills and i dunno bout labouer say .... £100 a side so it s a good 350-400 at a guess for it to be done right .. sealed n painted
