Swivelonit's MK 4 VR6T 4 Motion
Swivelonit replied to Swivelonit's topic in Members Rides and Event Photos
Thanks Pete, see if we can get some more VR's out on track, Ingham joined us last time we went in October. Just tried to have a look in the track day bit and it would seem I do not have permission to view it. -
This one, no mods what so ever and as it left the factory.

Sounds good UM, the turbo fitting keeps being pushed back, the guy who is doing it for me has been turbo'ing a MK 2, this is a full nut and bolt restoration as the owner bought the car new back in the day, instead of swapping it for a modern car he has spared no expense and to be honest the finished article will be a fine piece of kit so I don't mind waiting. Also at some point this year he has plans to fit a TT-RS motor into a G60 shell along with AWD, target figures are 850 bhp! for this. I have sourced injectors and when fitted I will be posting you my ECU or trailering the car to you -

Had a run out to Berkshire today to collect a set of big stoppers, Brembo's to be precise, so these bad boys will be fitted next weekend along with some new HEL braided hoses and some hi spec brake fluid. Slow and steady progress. -
I haven't seen any twin charge systems on a VR but our Fabia VRS is a twin charge system that works really well, 180 bhp from a 1.4!
-
Look forward to meeting you mate.
-
Just arrive and watch mate, gates are open, free to enter and you can spectate anywhere on the circuit as at a normal event. Restaurant is also open so you can get a a warm and some food.

This weekend will be spent collecting things, today a new crash helmet has been collected and tomorrow some Brembo 4 pot callipers with DS3000 pads and grooved are being collected from Berkshire. You've guessed it, next weekend will comprise of fitting the Brembo's to the Golf

Anybody off VR6OC going to the Castle Combe spring action day? http://www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk/events/action_display_event.asp?BookingEventID=628 We go every year with the Briskoda forum, not a bad day out either.

Night in with the family, a few beers and a single malt, also avoiding the neighbours as they want us to go there and we don't want to. As for new years day, at a loose end, weather looks crap so won't be going far. New years resolutions, swear less and get my turbo fitted but I think the turbo project might make me swear more

Not looking bad for the age, no nagging traits or unwanted noises, quite forgiving also as long as she can go fishing on a Wednesday i can go racing. With hind sight I would probably struggle to find another like her so I think I will withdraw the offer........... for now anyway lol
-
Neither, I would describe her as "used"

I've got a Sharon you can have, she is 41, 5' 1" tall, blonde and knows how to cook and iron, she also likes to go fishing on a Wednesday open to sensible offers..

We did a HOW FAST meet last year at Bedford Autodrome, everybody arrived for 10 AM, we then had one hour to learn a fairly short circuit, with transponders fitted we all got to three hot laps to set our times and at the end the winner was announced. Once the high octane fun was over it was off to the local pub for lunch and to explain why you got beat! Cost was a bit of fuel and £89 for the event that was well organised. Here is the result from our day. I was 5th over all but the TT and 370Z were not in our group. http://www.howfast.co.uk/leaderboard/1st-june-2013/session-2

I sat at 56 mph with the trucks in mine, the MFD showed I the MPG to be 38 mpg, journey took an extra 30 mins by driving slower. On the way home I sat at 75 mph using cruise control and MFD showed 29 mpg but we got home 30 minutes sooner. So sacrifice a little time and you will save a fair bit of fuel.

what suspension set up are you running
Swivelonit replied to colinmeadows's topic in Syncro, R32 and 4motion
I also had to shorten the front drop links for the ARB as the were about 1/2 inch too long and made the ARB touch the wishbone, this was not a problem though, cut a piece out and sleeved the drop links then welded them back up You can see the sleeve on the second to last photo. -

Yes, R32 Eibach ARB's, 26mm front and 24mm rears, also had all wheel alignment down at Demon Tweeks with 1/2 a degree toe out for better track turn in, makes it pull left with road camber though but straight and true on track. Not an issue as car only gets driven to the track, used and then driven back home. http://www.larkspeed.com/index.pl?a=i&p=2E40850010111 -

I fitted GAZ GHA's, they are adjustable damping and coil overs, so far I have done a track day on them and used them on the road, with the damping set on the softest setting the ride is very good, not bouncy or harsh. When the damping is wound up towards hard it is hard but still well damped and not harsh. They are £552 from Larkspeed and easy to fit. GAZ called me after the order was placed and asked what the car would be used for? Track only, track and road or predominantly road, they then make the suspension to suit your use, service was excellent. Adjuster. Front and rears before -

TT bushes are solid rubber and are generally better, the standard bush has rubber with a few holes that you can see through so are a little softer, same diameter though so will be fine. good luck with it. -

chances are it will be number 10 or number 4, you can check arb bushes and brackets for play I suppose. -

No I mean ball joints. On the wheel end of the wishbone is ball joint, it fits to the bottom of the strut/hub assembly and these wear, become slack and can present the symptoms you described. Here, it is item number ten near the bottom right of the image.
