  1. Here is a link to all the pictures from Oulton Park on the 7th November https://www.flickr.com/photos/swivelonit/sets/72157648821278630/
  2. R36 would be the ideal engine for the next step but I am hoping Shawy will sell me an AUE he has spare, this will be stripped, rods, pistons, some head work, cams and injectors, not the usual 630cc things, I am going for Asnu 450cc as these have the best atomisation I have seen and will be more than adequate for what I want, power will be kept to circa 400 bhp running a lower boost than most in conjunction with a thinner head spacer, this will keep the drivability of the car and reduce lag, with the current set up the turbo only gives a little more power and a very smooth delivery of power, fi
  3. I went to Cadwell in the wet with semi slicks on, here is the fall out And here is the carnage of a MK 3 VR6 who unfortunately got it a bit wrong.
  4. Friday 7th November, I am at Oulton Park for the Open Track event, looks like it will be wet , all that extra power I might even the get the big heavy lump to drift if I am lucky. There are a few of us going, some of the lads with rally cars and another guy from Gloucester with a quick Octavia, so should be a good season closer.
  5. After the advise from UM in the above posts I decided to get the Golf mapped, it was done by a guy local to me on the rollers at Ninemeister in Warrington, I dropped the car off with him on the Friday and collected it the following Wednesday with all the fault codes removed for the bits of car that are no longer on the car, SAI for example. We are running a simple set up, boost is at 7psi and the map has been installed, we have a decent 285bhp at the wheels, which I am quite happy with for the money I have spent, next year might see the head spacer and larger injectors fitted to see what powe
  6. My Golf has been on the rollers today, it is a 24 valve Mk4, it has had a simple bolt on turbo mod, no decomp plate and only running 7psi, it has stock injectors, fuel pressure reg bypass and intercooler, it has cost me very little to build and first run before the map delivered 254 hp and 250 lb/ft which isn't bad, after the map it should be better again. Here she is with Wayne at the wheel doing his magic, I get the car back next week He does not do rolling road days, you will need to arrange your own elsewhere, I did ask.
  7. I work all week but can arrange something. Make me an offer via PM.
  8. I will have the full back box and centre box going in a few weeks. I weighed the CAT's in last week, getting them to you might be a problem though.
  9. OK, won't be until 15th August as the car is not road legal anymore, track only
  10. I hear what you are saying. I am certain we were not too lean. I agree that a few things need sorting but as a basic starting point everything worked fine. I plan to keep the car and progress it, not with this engine but an R32 or R36, fully built on the bench and then transplant it into the Golf. Thanks for your information.
  11. Ok, lets get this thread back on track. The turbo is fitted, a low 5psi boost set up and an increase in fuel pressure for now to see how things go. The whole job was done in a week, all intercooler pipes were welded by Russ Fellows and turbo fitting/assistance by Simon Cooper at Central VW. I have a few bits to change, first is the dump valve, this has to be changed for a plumb back, which I have bought, second it some heat shielding and better ventilation, also the oil cooler still needs fitting. The thermostat, I want a lower temp opening stat, where would I get one from? I collect
  12. I will keep my eyes open and wait to drop on a bargain, I have to watch what wheels I buy as they have to fit over the Brembo's
  13. As already said, not easy at the best of times, even on a lift it is a pain in the arse. For what it costs I would book it in and let somebody else do it for you.
  14. I am looking for another set of pro race wheels, 1.2 or 3's for a set of wet tyres to go on. Secondhand they are going for daft money. I pick the MK4 up on Saturday after it has been in Central VW for the turbo fitting will probably need better tyres then too
  15. I find the GHA's very capable, they have about 36 clicks from soft to hard, I run the fronts at about 25 and the rears are on 15 to 18 clicks, anymore and it feels like the rear suspension has been removed, for what I paid for them I am very happy, they work in conjunction with Eibach anti roll bars which I am sure help stiffen everything up to the point the car will lift a wheel when cornering hard. No strut braces as of yet either. Federal 595 RS-R's, when they were new were not that grippy, a few laps and heat cycle through them and they improved a lot, they have now done 5 track days,
  16. If your car is a runner, ready for the track and you fancy giving it a run this weekend, there is a track day at Blyton Park, you can pay for full day, half day or even a half hour taster session. It is in conjunction with a car show organised by the Briskoda forum, my Golf will be there, you can have a ride in it if you can make it.
  17. I currently run a MK4 V6 4Motion, the modifications to date are as follows; Anti Roll Bars, changed for Eibach R32 bars 26mm & 22m iirc Suspension, swapped the standard for GAZ GHA coil overs, these have adjustable damping and are good value at £550 Brakes, I kept the stock rear discs and use Pagid pads, up front I have Brembo callipers off a Seat Leon Cupra R with Ferodo DS300 pads. Gulf race brake fluid too RBF600 Wheels I run Team Dynamics pro race 3's 17" with Federal 595 RS-R tyres, decent all round tyre for changing conditions (get flamed now for not having 888's) The final part of m
  18. Guys, our VAG cousins over on Briskoda are having their annual national mega meet at Blyton Park this year, as part of the show they are also having an open pit lane track day, entry to the show is free and if you want to track your car it is £100 all in. If you want to go to this great day out follow this link. LINK vr6oc Forum, contact Colin D over on Briskoda as there will be room for VR6OC to also have some room to show in, if so required. Hope to see you there and thanks for your support.
  19. A little update, not been on for a while, Golf has been out and run a sprint event at Barkston Heath, we did well amongst a field of GT86 Toyotas, M3 and numerous kit things. I have a local guy who can do the mapping too. Got a bit giddy too, so please don't listen too closely.... As for performance, the turbo project that started nearly a year ago is now booked in and will be done soon, a low boost set up for starters and see how we get on, if all goes well then I will consider spending even more money on it next year, got to be careful though as moving to Yorkshire as I have als
  20. yes I have a mk 4 4motion, stripped and gets thrashed on the track, don't use it for daily driving. When you added your flush did you just let your motor tick over for a few minutes or did you drive it about with the flush in there?
  21. I always flush my cars with Würth engine flush before every oil change, works well, also use good quality oil to refill with.
  22. Had a maul with the Golf today, removed the rear bumper and disposed of the crash bar, all 11 kilos of it, in the process I dislodged spiders and other hibernating furry animals too, it was filthy behind the bumper. In addition to removing some rear end weight, I also removed the front bumper and headlights, the headlights are now on the internet for sale as I have bought a set of standard replacement lights as xenons are not needed. I just need to fathom out what wire does what on the loom so I can wire the standard lights in as the connectors are different. Final thing I did was
  23. I will enter in the Best modified Golf 4mo/R32 although it probably won't win for concourse lol Here it is with my lad running it around Oulton Park last october.
  24. I think I am becoming a politician........ After a really good day at Oulton Park yesterday with a few fellow Brisky types, some drifting on the corners and a minor ploughing trip on the grass it has got me thinking if I really want to turbo charge the V6 Yesterday, I really got the feel for the car, loads of confidence throwing it in to the corners, closing other cars down on the brakes and only lacking a bit of oomph on the straights, the car was also super reliable, no issues at all, Brembo's performed really well if getting a little hot, they are now brown and not red. Power incr
