What is the best gearbox to marry with a vr6 in a t4 ?

My vr6 is on it's way out , it's currently a 2.8 I was wondering if I change it to a 2.9 is it a different loom ?

Because myn looks bodges as fuck and I think that's why I'm getting a flat spot when hot

I'm looking for someone who can make me a loom for my mk2 and generally help tidy up all the bodges ?

What oil is best for the vr6s ?
