  1. Definately mk3 VR6 is quicker. I have owwned both and was really dissappointed with the mk4 turbo. It has about 25 BHP less power than a vr6 and is loads heavier. Just felt slugish.
  2. Just seems a waste thats all.
  3. So do you need the 7th lead then? ARE yours genuine? i paided £80
  4. Thought some one had been taking pictures of mine for a second. Looks great
  5. Today bought some genuine ignition leads from TPS. There were 6 red leads and one black lead. My car is OBD2 and does not require the 7th lead. Bloke at TPS said They are the same leads for OBD1 and 2 you just dont use the black one. Is this correct? they fit fine. DOES ANY ONE WANT THE BLACK LEAD? Also my last leads were magnecor 8.5 mm, and the black engine plastics with the lead tunnels in had been bored out. So now my genuine leads wont stay in the tunnels. ANYONE GOT A SPARE SET?
  6. All in the preparation, wire brush the caliper to remove all lose dirt and corrotion. Clean caliper with brake cleaner, the paint. I use Hammerite with a brush, seems as good as any. You dont have to remove the caliper but you will get a better result if you do.
  7. obviously mine arnt comps, but they are 17x 7.5" wheels et35 with 195x40x17tyres and 8mm spacers. No rubbing, but rear arches have been rolled. But if you dont run spacers you should be ok. Also in my experience different tyre brands can very in size drastically, My falkens are narrower and give more stretch than my yokohamas did, even though both same spec.
  8. Car looks good with the comps mate, suit the vr6. What do you mean buy et45 originally?????? not sure on what tyres you should use, i run falcon 195, 40 17, they look brill
  9. 5x100 tt comps are actually et 32. not 35 so should fit under your arches nicely
  10. Actually two dents from pot holes, on the two fron wheels. Just took the pics so not the best but you get the idea. picture 1 and 2 show the bulge of alloy, sticks out about 3mm picture 3 and 4 show the other dent
  11. ok, is that a permanent product or would you need to re polish and apply regularly? As for the dent do you think i could straighten it with a rubber mallet? dont want to crack the alloy
  12. As above i have a set of bbs rx2 wheels in 17x7.5 et 35 fitment. The centres are in fairly tidy condition but the rims are starting to suffer the dreaded laquer peel, also there is a small bend in one rim from a pot hole. I want to refurb these wheel, how can i get rid of the dent and if i polish the rim how can i seal them to protect from english weather?
  13. fair enough standard leads it is. my car is due a service in feb. Do i A) do it myself ( im more tahn capable) Pay garage a small fortune. My car has full service history at the mo, not sure i want to break the link
  14. What are the best ignition leads. for a sensible price. Shall i buy genuine or aftermarket? P.S red look good Also any fitted MSD coils, any good? easy fitment?
  15. waxoyl, protects, prevents against rust and easy to scrap off when time comes to adjust them further.
  16. Sure i bought full car kit off venom motorsport. £169 free delivery
  17. had it fitted for well over 12 months. so dont know any different. Last week out of intrest i put the standard airbox on, with standard filter and removed the cone from within the airbox. it was far to sensible quite and boring, so 7 days later ram air is back on to stay. Dont suppose its gaining many ponnies but the sound is unreal. Well worth it.
  18. and me. It was on the car when i bought it so dont know what was ordered.
  19. All suspension will take the same amount of labour time to install, coilovers just have a fine thread that runs all the way up the strut body. you screw the adjuster nut up and down the body to deligate ride height. can be udjusted on the car at any time. Camber should be checked with either option really
  20. Also buy new genuine bolts from VW. no point fitting tight new bushes if your bolts are worn. VW recomend they are replaced also. and if they are 13+ year old bolts may take a bit to get them out.. Make sure you get the genuine bolts as they are high tensile
  21. Coilovers are better as you can adust the ride height of your car to your own specification. If you buy a lowering kit, they tend to be fixed heights of 30mm 40mm 60mm etc. Coilovers give you the flexibility to adjust the height to perfection
