This is the last job I have to do as far as bodywork. So basically on the tailgate there is a huge rust hole that goes behind the number plate that I have filled and sprayed , The paint has also faded in places and it doesn't look great. A new one is about £120 in primer , and I have to get it shipped to guernsey then painted. Or I get one second hand. What's the best thing to do ?
you probably sorted it by now but if not this might help. If its stuck in 2nd or 3rd then it could be stuck in default ( gears 2 and 3 or sometimes just 3 ). Might be worth getting the codes read as my auto vr6 was stuck in default to, turned out to be the internal wire harness and the lead running from it to the rest of the gearbox loom. im not great on autos but getting the fault codes read pointed me in the right direction.
cheers but guernsey is a a long trek and i still have to spend out on the gearbox may be a while before i can afford to do the job. i started work on the gearbox today and found more problems,i need the lead that connects the gearbox's internal harness to the rest of the gearbox loom. i was quoted £108 for the timing chains , tensioners and guides but do i need the tensioner bolt as its another £50 or so
I'm doing some work on the gearbox next weekend ( with it in the bay ) and if it sorts the gearbox problem out I will have a look at the timing chains, if I do I can tell you what I find , it might point you in the right direction
cheers, does it sound like the timing chain to you and any idea on price? i am in the channel islands, guernsey so i have no choice really thanks again mate
hi , can anyone tell me if this noise is normal or if the timing chain is on its way out ? if it is how much much would the parts be? i would do the work just hope it isnt :-(
i managed to find out what the on going problem was and it did turn out to be the internall harness, has anyone dont this before and could anyone give me some tips on how to do it ? thanks
hi , i changed the heater matrix in my VR6 because is was leaking badly. its all done now but the carpets are still really wet with coolant , i took them up and removed alot of the insulation that was soaked. there is still some insulation material between the dash but i dont want to rip it out incase it caused rattling around the dash. whats the best way of getting rid of the coolant from the carpet ?
this happened on mine and it turned out to be some snapped wiring. when you open the door there is a rubber boot that goes from the car body to the door, turn it anticlockwise where it connects to the car and check the cables havent come loose or snapped.
no worries mate alot more helpful than the garages , they looked at it and told me its only worthy of the tip. so yea it would be well worth a look at thoes cables
i dont but i had the codes read not too long ago cause the auto box was playing up and all the codes pointed to the internall harness - which im doing when i have some free time... and money. but ill type it into google like you said and see what it comes up with. thanks for the help
