  4. hi , just having trouble with removing the gearbox on the vr6 as the automatic is larger compared to the manual box, also being automatic it has the torque convertor making it even harder to manouvre the driveshaft cup around the flywheel. the gearbox is supported with a trolley jack and the back of it where the driveshafts go in is held with rope attached to a longer pole that rests on the top of each wing ( with lots of padding ) meaning i can lever some of the weight. the engine is supported with a jack. any advice would be much appreciated
  5. might be interested although i would need to get it sprayed, but how much for shipping to guernsey? i spotted some brand new ones on ebay but shiping was near on £90
  6. mine pulled out but be extra careful as the paint peeled back when i took mine out
  7. ok so im half way through removing the gearbox and managed to remove the passengers side drive shaft but for the drivers side there is no room to get a spline socket and a wrench in! how can i get past this ? also realised the rubber boot had split is it any easier with this off ? cheers
  8. you can test if its an internal coolant leak if you smell it and its sweet but also insted of the carpets just being wet they will be sticky. have you checked the thermostat housing ? they are a weak spot and tend to leak
  9. ok sound just to double check , i use the trolley jack on front beam where the engine mount is and where is best to put my axle stands ? i know im making a big deal out of this !
  10. yeah i think i know what you mean , what about the front engine mount thats attatched to the front beam ?
  11. where can i lift the car up using the trolley jack apart frim the sills because i dont want to damage anything ? i need to lift the car up then use axle stands.
  12. all the ones sem to be 10mm or 3/8 so the unions have to be 11mm ? ill have another look around

  14. hi guys im going to order up some copper piping so i can do the brake lines on the golf, what are the dimensions for the brake lines on a 1994 golf VR6 ?

  18. hi, as the golf has been taken apart and put together im starting to realise some bolts have gone missing, where can i find what bolts i need ?
  19. im not sure mate but i need to do the brake lines on my 1994 golf vr6 as there nearly rotted through so i would be interested in knowing
  20. last time i checked for a ferry trip its £100 each way so id be looking to use a courier

  22. i am planning to do it in bits so my aim is to get it near enough spot on. Did you use an electric sander on yours ?
  23. i have started to polish the manifold using 120 sandpaper as i didnt have 40. I did about half an hour then thee next day i went and got some 40 and carried on. In some places it looks as it should at this stage but in some places there are lots of smaller dark dimples. Is this just where i need to sand more or am i doing something wrong ? just a bit cautious as i dont want to mess it up
  24. cheers , the power hose worked a treat and all the gunk has washed through. all i can say is that radweld is a total waste of money... out of interset how does it run with the external cooler ?
  25. sorry i meant the number after AAA , if it is after 217000 then it wont fit but if its before it will .
