  1. found this in the gearbox sump - (the new gearbox i bought ) they are very thin not sure what they are please help ? could it be a gasket or what is it? and yeah for the crack it might be worth getting a pro welder to have a look if what i found in sump isnt too serious
  2. b road blaster can you not get a weld run along the crack to "beef" it up a bit im not sure ,wouldnt heat be an issue for internal components? UnitedMotorsport Posted: Both are from crash damaged cars. how can you tell? i know that the original gearbox was involved in a small crash were someone went side on into the passengers front wing but i dont know about the replacement gearbox
  3. im doing the timing chains atm so havent tested it but the old one didnt it just leaked between engine and gearbox. and yeah thats a good way to look at it i suppose
  4. its such a shame after the trouble i went to with transport etc and the money i spent. he said it was tested twice whilst on the car as it wasnt a right off and it worked fine including going up inclines. what do i do ? I was pretty lucky to find one with the same code wasnt i ?
  5. trouble last month as gearbox was taken out and huge split in side .. sourced replacement exactly same code payed £130 and £220 for shipping and discover this .. so pissed off now .mine was on 62,000 and this is at 50,000 so im guessing it will get worse ?
  6. Out of interest where did you get the brand new seat covers ?
  7. cheers im going to start by cleaning everything right back to bare metal as half the floor is solid then ill repair the floors as the guide showed. i think i might get the sills and structural bits behind them replaced for new though as they are knackered. what are the sills actually made up from ? as in there is a structural beam that goes down each side, can this be replaced aswell as the outer sill bit that covers this beam

  9. ok but here is the dilemma good points for repairing are: cheaper and it means i dont have to buy all the different panels. good points for replacing with new parts: eliminates all rust so it wont spread, makes it structurally sound , meaning i can pass mot's if i move to the uk in a few years but also it would make a perfect time to respray. But with the rust that goes further in towards the centre of the car on the floor what panels would i need to replace? is it possible to replace parts of the floor pan or not?

  11. right had the car up on axle stands and thought i should properly assess the rust,i welded the passengers side but admit its not the best. this is the passengers welded side this is the drivers side, the dark area is so soft i stuck a screwdriver through it so i aim to stop it in its tracks, what parts do i need to replace with cost and where can i source them from ? the structural bits inside the sills are slightly damaged aswell
  12. so just to be 100 percent i can use the latest upper tensioner with the latest tensioner bolt instead of what i have now ? older tensioner bolt- latest tensioner bolt-
  13. ok thanks ill have a little look myself aswell
  14. ok is it as simple as just taking the old tensioner off and replacing it with the later one or would i need to change the tensioner bolt to the later version aswell
