Ive had her for about 10 months with no problems now need to sort a load of stuff out....not fun stuff though like go faster stuff and such like...unfortunately. i use it as a daily to,...till now has run great no faults apart from a few months ago had a water leak from the housing around the thermostat, inner plastic lip perished and rubber seal collapsed in. New housing from GSF, rubber seal, stat for the sake of it all about 17 squi

  6. Well Squid i can do a bit but seriously lacking in the tools needed, i have sheds full of eveything imaginable for all sorts of situations in life, random stuff...lol but my ol' man had a load of his tools pinched which he had built up over wellprob as many years as i am old.lol Anyway, my brother in law is a machanic and he does all my work,..however i have been waiting on him to do all my jobs for ni-on 3 months...hazards of family favours(although i pay him what he like's, i just like to know who's working on my veichles) that things have deteriated to a point where verging on desperate for
  7. OMG serious!?!?! that much!.....see what i said about dreading!! Cheers ben/squid1
  8. Have a large list of stuff mounting up , no parts are excessively expensive tbh but with everythng on top of each other its adding up. I need wishbones/control arms call them what you like, gsf have priced these at 32.50 each....not a bad price...but thats with out ball joints at 18.60 for 2. All in £83.60. With all the other bits like i said adding up, so looking for even more savings here and there. These any good?? anyone used them http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VOLKSWAGEN-VW-GOLF-MK3-GTI-VR6-FRONT-2-WISHBONE-ARMS-/270488096289?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3ef
  9. Ben...spot on, that sound clip i think is bang on,...so its chain or guides then. Anybody know costing etc!!!????!??!?!
  10. GAvin that is pretty much how it sounds till you rev it, then the noise increses. i dont have the experience with these engines or chain driven but my first instinct was sounds like a chain rattle when a chain is slack n a motorbike etc. Guys my milage is only 68k
  11. Ok Ben, will dothat right now. How much do chains retail at(this is a bloody coincidence as on the blower to GSF rattling off a list of bits for a quote and asked for a price on chains thinking something to think about soon)
  12. Help....ive a mamouth list of things do and cost increasing...but now crapping a bit!!! Pulled up on my ol' mans driveway the other day and as i smiled at him whilst climbing the drive his face was that of oh dear.... ignition of i said i know exhaust sounds awful (blowing) he said no you better check oil or something engine sounds bad. I hadnt noticed anything in cabin. Bonnet open...engine fired up,....slight rattle (hard to explain noise) hand open throttle...noise inc reases!!!soesnt sound good It may be impossible to pin point on a forum the problem as im sure it has to be heard. But loo
  13. Get a lot of kits though...woulnt all the pipes, intercooler etc etc etc amount to a price near that anyway with out the turbo.
  14. I would be interested...dont know anyone from on here(quite new member for last 4/5months) and im a bit out of everyone's area's of meeting etc...but when i get some bits and pieces on car sorted i would like to do one.thanks.
  15. Saw a complete kit on the well known auction site...complete vr6 turbo kit £750...thats T3/T4. turbo offering 80 -160 bhp increase, intercooler, wastegate, manifold,pipes,hoses....like everything. (worrying though 90 day warranty on turbo.lol) Although Paul Parky pointed ot when i metioned it to him that you ave to be careful with turbo's if cheap versions as they can break down chucking shards of metal into the engine.....making your vr6 very poorly.lol
  16. Plus i think its a case here of paul is pushing the boundaries and doing something a bit different, which is cool!!!...dam cool!!!lol
  17. well put it this way...tps cardiff- asked my brother in law to get a price on parts through his garage(2 wishbones, drop links,discs,engine/gearbox mounts came in at 700 and something i stopped listening to how much as it was getting to be a ridiculous amount. wishbones were something like £200.lol...without ball joints
  18. I hae a TPS in cardiff here but they are not in on the members discount so wouldnt sell to non trade and are really quite expensive here.
  19. best place to get standard clutch then?? vw or gsf and such like???
  20. How strange i was going to post a thread asking for a good clutch...not running a super charger, but just something thats sturdy and can take some rough treatment sometimes....will watch with interest.
  21. I bet fella, some times all it takes is a bit of help and kindness from others when its needed!!
  22. Christ gav i'd bet you would be paying in kind or offering if that lil video pic was vr6stormt....ha ha, imagine that,....with tools, likes cars and can work on them....ha ha
  23. can i just a add to this thread that i have got to say, i see the same names cropping up on these threads....your all a top bunch of guys and girls, makes a real difference all i can say is gutted no one near me.lol Good luck wit this swap,...looks like your going to be in good hands!!
  24. hmmmm this thread has made me think,....im waiting t purchase some coilovers....iv got to other mainenance bits,....stilll....planning new wishbones, drop links, disks all round, poss bearing,engine/gearbox mounts. None of this is the stuff uyou want to have to buy as you mentioned i'd rather be spending it on improving anyway like i said this thread has just made me think,if im dropping the car on coilovers, will i need shorter drop links???? unsure how low i will be able to drop coilies,....my drive way determines that (inclined bend)
