  1. Oh i thought any pressed plate was illegal, regardless of font, thought they were for show use only now. Also, black plates are for cars over 25, well prob 30yrs old now. But the cops even can get funny with the older cars now that are elagable for them(thats if the still are) i have a harley davidson i wanted to put black plates on but my mate who has a harley gets alot of stick from pc plod about having one!
  2. Rover and VR6 in same sentence!!!!ha ha well you saw the light anyway and thankfully stepped into it.lol Well Pauli08, i'd say general concensis is that as long as its looked after milage is almost irrelevant. Think people are now more torn over the decision of vr for 1st car or not(get one get one get one),lol it wont be the cheapest of first cars. Somone mentioned earlier in thread you can get 35mpg,....if you take it easy...thing is thats just it,...its not easy to take it easy. But it was only the other day a debate was on here about mpg, you can eeeek out the mpg but why bother, if you h
  3. And you'd be right!!!lol The ol' right place right time and a lot of del boy/trotters independent traders influence!!!ha ha
  4. Well between you and i,....on the quiet, a few hundred quid 1981 motorbike(tidied back up,sort some electrics, new bulbs, other little jobs, cleaned and shined) - straight swap for a vr marked up 2500 was how mine was aquired.lol No wonder i love it!!ha ha Bit jelous of this aus insurance though huh If you are intent on getting one young man good luck with your searching, the guys on here are no end of help with your questions too,its great!!
  5. S3 XAN there must be examples under 80k.lol mines 80.....er 5, ye bout 85k on a P plate. But i have kno doubt Your's with 130 and many others on here with more miles than that have good tight cars.....after all its a volks Vaargen!!lol Hmmmm if you could though...wouldnt most off us,whether you were familiar with them or having newly discovered them....have loved a vr as a first car, regardless of milage,.. imagine that!!!...after all most drive first cars till the lil o' wheels drop off!!!ha ha
  6. Hey dean, will you be doing this again??? im not from near bybut would prob be interested if you do...would make the trip to put it on the rolling road and see other members chariots etc. Need to do some bits and pieces on mine first(just maintenance etc) so not this time.Have fun though guys and maybe you can chuck a thread up of the day with pcs and graphs etc!???!
  7. ha ha why do the great ads never make it to the public or at least the uk....ther was a carlsberg one which was hilarious involving a house warming party where the woman shows off her walk in wardrobe....if it was for the tube of you it wouldnt get seen, lol
  8. Paul...Mr Parky...omg, i dread to think how much time i just spent reading 45 pages of this thread. Truley amazing effort and great results! you should be a very proud man. Feel a bit embarrased now that ive been ummming and arrring to do work on mine myself rather than wait for my brother in law to do it when he can...and thats just on things like wishbones, mounts, coilovers, brakes etc i should just get on with it having now read your mamouth efforts, trials and tribulations.lol Once again fella...well done!!
  9. Wow mate thats a very decent and generous offer paul. Are theyhard to make and are solid mounts any good???
  10. 195/40 would be hell of a stretch with quite a nticable gap between tyre and rim lip.....not a look i love, do like stetched tyres but not to that extreme.
  11. Seems a waste to tuck 9's under the rears, will look good flush, its all going to depend on tyre size choice as well!?!
  12. Cheers paul, talking a bit of monies there though are we....although i dont wont to skrimp on the girl i have a quite a bit to do on maintenance. Shocks(im opting for coilies as i want them and i think by the time you buy standard a few quid more and you got coilovers) wishbones, drop links, discs. So you know i thought if there is any truth in this diesel mount malarky i'd get them as they would pretty much be same price as vr one's if not cheaper
  13. I heard that mark3 1.9 diesel mounts are the same fit and are more heavy duty, more hard waring?? Any ideas...my mounts are shot and was going to just replacestandard then came across this info(rightly or wrongly that it may be) cheers
  14. No way!! really, well i know a man who can....as in fab some if needed i suppose,....he'd prob make them for me to prove he could do them and to brag how good they are if i gave him enough ribbing saying he probably couldnt do them (you know...."i was going to ask you to fabricate some adaptors for me,...but actually its ok you probably couldnt do them, dont worry'.....lol") I just been looking at weller wheels,...stock car type they are as good as all 4 stud though....god i am so torn on what i want.lol
  15. no thats good, mind you we get a good discount with black circles here dont we....hmmm ok tyre's not so much prob....wheels though
  16. hmmmm like i said headaches.lol im thinking 17's to big....but 16's are that size where generally tyres are more expensive than 17's and 1' and sometimes bit harder to get the width wheel u want....suppose thats where spacers come in. Iv even considered like 14 or 15" weller style one's like a stock car....think i can find any for sale.lol
  17. rims hey,....what a headache.lol what would ppl's general opinion on best size for no rubbimg with car slammed but arches filled(basically wheels not looking lost in them.lol) 16's, 17's.......
  18. Oh right are they that expensive? maybe i should just go new.lol i been looking at all sorts. im wanting something with a bit of a dish. Im looking 16" as i find 15 too small unless they are wide/deep enough,....may change my mind on 15's if i saw it stanced right over them. mind 16's are that size that are a bit of a pain tyre wisw.
  19. Yhis is true boys.....scrap the tens.lol 8 - 9" are they any hassle on the rear at 16" and 17"??
  20. Thats quite a bit of width.lol No buddy doesnt have to be 10's its just a quick thought....only been trawling the net etc looking for rims, not settled on anything yet. Comes down to budget was looking at new but been scouring different wheels 2nd hand to save the money you know. Saw that aforementioned set of ATEV's pretty cheap. Been feeling the want for some porsche d90's but they sizes i would want are almost going for money you would spend on new rims. Considering various styles etc, been looking at various bemmer and merc ones to go bit different maybe
  21. yeah would be definately stretching the rubber not to a stupid amount that u cant take a bend but just enough. worth it you think???
  22. Standard arches look quite spacious...far to spacious for standard wheels 112 pcd front 8j x 17. Rear 10j x 17 (seen these and thought hmmmm) How much a prob we talking with standard arches???lol how much work needed etc??? cheers any info asap if poss.
