  1. Inlet temps were monitored on the lap top on the rolling road and they were fine. It's more the flow rate I'm worried about as my gt30 turbo is only giving me 401bhp and according to Owen developments it should be good for 525bhp. Like I said I've got a chargecooler thats pretty big so I'm going to try that and see if it flows any better and up the bhp.
  2. Yeah pretty much all my runs were between 11.4 and 11.8 which was fairly good. No maf as I'm running Omex stand alone . The hidden intercooler thing works ok but it's just to small for the bhp I'm wanting to put through it now so I'm going to try a chargecooler and see if I get better results. VIW 28 was it you who got a video of me racing a green beetle? Harry tdi over on the caddy forum said someone from N Ireland with a mk3 vrt who I spoke to on the day had one, I'm guessing it could be you?
  3. Cheers for the compliments guys. I had such a good weekend especially the night racing as I was jut going round and round with no queue, I literally ran out of fuel on my last run! Thought about the vwdrc but not sure if I would have time, I have to work every other Saturday night and can only take so many of them off a year so balancing weekends away with cars with the 2 small children and my wife is a tricky job! Yeah VIW28 I think I remember talking to you, you thought I was adaptor man? I talked to so many people this weekend though it was great. Already started on the mods to get a bit ex
  4. Well done mate that's a cracking time for a n/a VR. I got my new pb on Saturday aswell 11.4 finish at 125mph and managed 18 runs just on the Saturday! Looking to get into the 10s for gti festival in October now. Silver/grey mk1 Caddy by the way.
  5. Don't know mate I just took them to a specialist driveshaft place and told them what I wanted. But the 3 solid ones do have some kind of sleeve on them with what looks like its been threaded on!
  6. Yeah I used a mk3 VR subframe upfront so I could keep the power steering but used mk2 bottom arms and hubs etc to keep it narrow track and 4 stud. I had to get both drive shafts modified as the inner cv's are mk4 and the outers are mk2 golf, absolutely no idea on length I'm afraid but easy to measure and get made once everything is fitted.
  7. I'm sure I read a build thread on a mk1 r32 4wd conversion somewhere and they fitted a syncro subframe. Thinking back though maybe they had to shorten it a little. Either way i reckon it would be easier than trying to fit a mk4 subframe fit.
  8. Dont syncro subframes bolt straight into mk1 golfs?
  9. I've 4 motion'ed my mk1 caddy so can give you some help if you want mate.
  10. If your not in a massive rush then I have a GT 3076r turbo that's done less than a thousand miles for sale? It's still fitted to mine and running 400bhp but will be coming off at the beginning of September.
  11. One's 4 cylinder and the others 6 cylinder so I doubt it.
  12. Solely depends on management/software No need for 5 bar FPR is possible on 440cc injectors. Out of curiosity what turbo was used for these figures, a GT35?
  13. All the sizes are here mate, can you not just measure the gap and get the one that fits? http://www.chargecooler.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=67&zenid=8d5e86ac9ea4fd7d7d59e59588b25ceb
  14. It probably isnt an ideal place for an Intercooler but it seems to work ok. It's only a cheap one ive fitted so I'm looking to upgrade to something with a better flow rate just can't decide wether to use another intercooler or fit a chargecooler.
  15. Yeah the wheels are central in the arch it just takes a bit of measuring. I've got a corrado radiator in mine and there is no chance of having a hidden intercooler in there aswell, with the short intake runner there is about 1cm between the fans and rad. I made the front slam panel detachable like a mk2 golf as otherwise if I needed the radiator out you would have to remove the front intake. And no I don't regret fitting it as its now 4wd aswell, but depends what you want it for as a VR is quite heavy so not ideal in a mk1 as a track day car but I just use mine for sprints and general messing
  16. I've fitted the VR subframe to my mk1 caddy mate. Just did a lot of measuring to make sure it was in the right place, welded threaded rod and brackets with holes in them to the subframe and used the nuts on the threaded rod to get fine adjustment and hold it steady whilst you weld the mounts in place. I used VR subframe and mk2 golf wishbones and coilovers to keep it 4 stud. You have to go through the inner footwell to mount the rear bolts Did it about 5 years ago now but it's still holding together with a 400bhp VRT in it. Using the subframe also means you get to use the power steering r
  17. My best time was 12.09, was hoping for an 11 but I think it was just to hot.
  18. Yeah organisation was pretty poor, when I arrived at the sprint area at 8 o clock Sunday morning with the caddy on the trailer asking where I could park they just looked at me bemused and told me to just put wherever I could, later in the day I saw a sign for where it was supposed to be parked but that area was empty! Also I was about 4th set of cars down the strip only to come out of the 1/4 mile at 120 mph to find cars randomly driving round not knowing where to go and marshals waving arms and hurriedly trying to set cones out! This was day 2 so this should of been sorted before the sprint
  19. I bought mine 2-3 months ago and they were about £175.
  20. I had some Magnecore leads on my vrt and they caused me no end of bother trying to find why I was getting a weak spark. Any more than 0.9 bar of boost and I was getting a misfire, changed them to genuine VW leads and the problem was solved. And yes the Magnecore leads were also bought brand new! The more i ask round the less people rate them i know I will never be buying them again!
  21. Is it me or are toyo t1r's becoming hard to find! Just tried to order some through demon tweeks and they have a 2 month waiting list!
  22. I thought about this on my mk1 caddy vrt and decided that when the valve to the matrix is closed there looked to be a lack of flow. I added an extra hose just before where the 2 hoses go through the bulkhead and before the valve joining them together so bypassing the heater matrix and valve if the valve was closed/ in the cold position.
  23. Yeah but probably a bit more than i can afford right now. Any idea of what sort of power i should get from my gt30 with a 1.06 housing?
