local auto parts, told them i was quoted 19 from another company and told them i would rather pay cash than card over phone and they matched it its a 1996 if it wasnt so frikkn low i would jack it up and have a butchers myself but pretty sure its a square connector
-
gotta feeling it might the square connection coz on ebay the oval connection is for pre 1994 vw

right prob no 2, turns out said ordered part may be incorrect. it didnt comes with the attachments, just the sensor dont know if i should be getting the attachments as well, i expect i should but dunno anyways that unearthed another prob when i queried it coz it turns out there were 2 rear sensors for the vr6 in 1996? any ideas how i tell? chassis number?

just had word back from the garage and they say its the rear sensor, i asked which one and they will let me know when i pick it up lata. does it make any difference if its near or offside? and is there any1 got 1 going spare or is it off to ebay?
-
spose, guy at the garage has diagnostic stuff so he can plug into and see if its the sensor thats away, i do remember when buying it now that the guy said something about a sensor, 12 quid or something like that to replace it

hey all might sound like a stupid question but i need the abs not showing for the mot next week ive heard of blanking plates for the slot but is there any reason why we just cant cut the wires going to the light in the dash?
-
lookn for recon or good condition 2nd hand calipers. theres corrosion on the discs but the pad doesnt seem to be cleaning it off. garage says i need new discs and pads fair enough, mate says the caliper might not be working properly coz of the build up on the disc and i get a quiet grinding noise from the rear when i brake but only really when i start up help plz

u could try sourcing a custom builder in your area, i used stainless creations up here and they put in a cat back 2.5" system with a 6*4 tailpipe (kinda stretched out oval) that fits perfectly into the indent in my bumper got 2 boxes in it, back and middle to try and keep sound down and it sounds great and will sound better when i put in the 6 branch and decat after the mot lol

Multiple problems on a supercharged VR6.
vr6_super replied to Gazbarber1982's topic in Engine Tuning
soz to hijack your thread buddy but what kinda figures u running with your charger ie 0-60 and top end? i am hoping to either charge or turbo my vr6 for the summer but am being pulled in both directions. i like the stealth thread but dont really want to go as high as 5k all in but on the other hand i dont want to get the stage up to 240bhp when the type r stage 1 is 330 again soz for hijacking. would help with ur prob if i could but i aint that far into my vr6 yet lol -
decat will fail mot wont it? waiting till after mot for upgrade anyway so will get it then. hopefully then should be up to around type r power? but with bag loads more torque

Just got a custom ss exhaust put on from the cat back and will be putting on a 6 branch manifold in next couple of months. Question is, and its prob a silly one, but all the 6 branches I see advertised dont come with a pipe to connect it to the cat. No reason why it should. Does this pipe have a name and where would I get one? I had the cat back system put in at 2.5". If I am upgrading the manifold now as well should I look at upgrading the cat? Is there such an upgrade to increase power, even slightly. The cat has been on since birth, about 170k miles. Views welcome

what a muppet, didnt realise the bit immediately above the lighter came off, port located, cheers
-
well dont know if it slides but it certainly comes out, with a bit of elbow grease etc and is just a blank space with the heater switch to the right engine was changed 2 years back, any difference?
-
car is 1996 and i have looked behind the blank bits above the lighter, but both the statements are tru for my car lol i have a blank bit to the left of the heated rear switch and they are also above the lighter switch

I have read the thread about where it is but I cant see it. I have taken out the panels with nothing on them and theres nothing behind them. Any ideas?

Backbox leaning to the side
vr6_super replied to vr6_super's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
just had a look at some exhausts on ebay and got a pic where it has a hanger at the tailpipe end on left and one at the right at the other of the back box. however both of those are intact and it looks like there was a hanger in the middle on the right hand side that has came off, that normal on standard systems to have 3 hangers? -
tho is the standard system a 2.25" ? i'm not planning on getting a new manifold and i'm guessing i can pick up a connection for the 2.25" to 2.5" easy enough?
-
buying a new cat back system but unsure of which diameter i should be getting, i phoned rms in ayr and they said its probably the 2.25in whereas some threads i read say its 2.50in. personally not bothered as long as its easy enough to get adaptors to make whichever one fit but does it matter performance wise? obviously the wider the system the more airflow, true?

been on ebay etc looking for a system but am i right in guessin that most of the systems out there are from the cat back? i also like the idea of switching to the 6 branch ss manifold giving all the claims. also assuming that the 6 branch is a direct bolt on? is it worth then getting a new cat if i'm interested in the new manifold and system? -

thats what i was thinking, its prob the hangers than coz you can actually lift it up to where it normally sits and i reckon the bit thats rusted and fell off attached to somewhere on the underside, will go take a look soon. well i was wanting to get a new exhaust anyway so this is just hurrying the decision, now ive just got to decide which one i want lol -
advice needed, noticed a sudden difference in sound the other night when boosting for the 1st time in god knows how long and had a wee snatch at the exhaust. the backbox of the beast is tilting to the right as you look at it (you can lift it up a few inches to where it should prob be). theres a fitting on the left which is still intact and keeping it off the ground but is there supposed to be one on the right as well? i have seen a few pics of backboxes on ebay and none have the fitting on the right (only the left) so is there any other reason for the tilting? coz of the age there is a sectio
