  1. Yea u jus gotta be a bit careful, vw didn't put that ratio in it for no reason. U don't wanna jus sling the lowest in there and fall right out the best power band. U might start getting bit pissd off having to change down for some oomph on the motorway. But on the other hand vw had to cater for 1000's of people and that's wot modifyings about! Making it work for u Ill post that ratio tool up when I'm on computer to work it out proper
  2. *edit. Double post cos galaxy s is gay
  3. search gear box calculator in google, u input tyre & wheel sizes ratios etc and it works out wot speed ur doing at wot rpm. got it saved on computer but on phone atm. Sounds like u want as passat diesel 5th, .71 bringing ur overall ratio to 2.41from 2.81. that means 2.41 turns of wheel to 1 of the crank
  4. For few quid more u can get some of belgiums finest height adjustable coil overs.....Off ebay...had mine on nearly 2 years, wound right down, I've even carried a FULL vr6 engine& ancillaries in the back of my car and the're still going strong. Quick delivery too, plus that way u get 4 new shocks and springs. And the ride/handling won't be any worse than 4 cheap lowering springs on old mismatched shocks.....do ur top mounts while ur there to, mine are rubbing the bonnet but I'm too lazy to take it all off again now

  8. still think its the knock sensor.......fronts by the oil cooler, and 99% sure thats the rear.
  9. Think its a vacuum for air recirculation flap or something under dash....i binned mine with the arch liners and had like a motor noise start behind dash, so plugged the vacuum line with a nail and alls fine

  13. http://secure.gsfcarparts.com/shop/results.asp Dunno wot there parts are like tho, and no experience on fitting them.......yet If that link don't work search part number 145vg0170
  14. To keep ur standard ecu etc youll need to use 12v sensors and ditch the variable cam timing......u'll have to use the 24v mani's, 12v fly etc....bit of mixing and matching but its been done. Or just swap engine, loom, ecu and so on.....theres at least 2 threads with people doing this swap atm too
  15. Guides are only a couple of quid each (GSF) if your fitting them yourself or just fancy doing a full rebuild for the experience/whatever then go for it......or if they ain't broke don't fix it....

    Throttle body

sorry, not worse its just pointless.....u can but dont expect anything. polishing alone dont do much as it doesnt enlarge it, and im not sure if u can enlarge the throttle plate which may see some gains. also bore it too much and u loose the hump next to the butterfly, and its there to speed up gas flow for midrange torque and smooth off air turbulance. ....i THINK obd2 is bigger but u'll need to swap some wires and redrill some bolt holes, and u'll still need ur isv. or u could go corrado, easier
  20. later 'rados came with coilpacks, there all the same u'll be fine:)
