  3. pretty sure reverse doesnt use a syncro they cant be sure.... im gonna say ur selector forks are worn, i bought a box that was having same trouble as urs (and my current one is) and the dog teeth/syncros werent to good but the main problem was the wear on the tabs that move the hub to selector the gear.... not very clear but u can see they are worn and the top one most of all. it should be square and not that funny shape, lost 2mm of material each side!! every selector tab was worn like this and would cause it not to select properly.
  4. was gonna say use the search function above but i jus did and couldnt find owt....... i would also like to kno this...might as well when box has gotta come off for chains! plus i got my eyes on a box thats at work lol.
  5. its deffo not the same as any of the petrols, ive looked in them all. wouldnt think the same in the diesel either... ive put mine back in for a bit of extra filtration and MPG and forgotten how quiet it is! tho before id got my cone filter id drilled a shit load of holes in the orginal airbox - but 2 layers of duct tape later it was back to standard hahaha! feels like it has a little more torque lower down so i think i might keep it in...miss the noise already tho
  6. lol mine seems to fall between 220-250 a tank......

  11. as title really........i use mine to go back and foward to work everyday, sitting in traffic most of the way home, off to the shops - i hate being a passenger so i take it everywhere really! its done over 8k in 7 months and will prob end up doing well over 17000 in its 1st year with me..... buuuuuut.........its really starting to get me now :-( im putting £200 of fuel in it a month (which i notice has gone up again!) and it still needs its chains doing, plugs, leads, oil leak.......my mrs couldnt justify it along time ago but even im finding it hard to justify, spending all my spare cash o

''Also, did anyone read what I said in the second post on this thread? Trying to get this car quick. Hoping to keep up with my buddies VR6 GTI'' hahaha! :-p
  18. no worries, let us kno if its the box cos i kno wot im doing there. plus i got a shed load of spares/bearings/seals for them...
  19. right, ive been repairing gearboxes for 3 years now and have learned nothing about diffs lol! everything i kno is from back in the day when i was a ford boy, making my xr2 to a turbo.... never driven an LSD, but ive been told they are more prone to torque steer and and when one wheel starts to slip the friction is increased and gradualy locks the wheels together. they work off a series clutches/plates/discs within, which when new are tight and take time to bed in, and will (eventually) wear and u'll need a new one........ atb (automatic torque biasing) basically, sends the torque to the wheel
  20. hmmmmm cos u've jus had that work done id say clutch too..... although not for definite, cos , the pinion bearings do go on these boxes, which would explain the noise and it causes pinion to move enough to make gear selection hard.... could be either, its jus funny its after that other works been done...
