  1. Well swapped leads over and its still miss firing, took plugs out and they are black, sooty and soaked in fuel! Took out dip-stick and oil smells of fuel, so gotta do an oil change, and reduce the fuel. When the ignition is switched on, the fuel pressure rises, then drops to 0 when the pump has stopped priming, is this right? Also, do you have to set the fuel pressure to 3 bar at idle, or should it be lower? Just trying to work out whats causing the over-fuelling, as the base map is set-up for 360cc injectors, and i've got 440cc injectors. Would this cause it? Or should i drop the injector ope
  2. No, not very well, took ages to get to sleep! Think its got a missfire, i'l try and iron it out later.
  3. He, he, he, replaced the dodgy hoses, and now no leaks. AND IT ONLY BLOODY STARTED!!!!!! Proper happy chappy now! I'l try and get some vids up soon, bit noisey though as i've only got the downpipe on atm.
  4. Right, got the new maps, and config's, got to replace the fuel hose i've bought because its not proper fuel hose :-( Once thats sorted, i'l try the engine again, but only when the fuel leaks are sorted!
  5. Oh kev, don't suppose you know the correct wiring colours for the cam sensor, as i'd like to run sequential injection?
  6. Yeah my Peter Russek manual says 6 - 7.5 btdc, but it wouldn't fire on that. Really at a loose end, spoke to emerald today and there sending me another map and ecu configurations so i can start from the beginning, again! Just want it to run!!!
  7. Yeah think i sust it finally yesterday, after buying a crank sensor i didn't need as mine still works, yay! You are right about the wires, black is going to chassis ground now, and think i've put the green and red in correctly as the ecu is reading a signal. I did swap them over to check, and it wouldn't read a signal. The emerald wiring diagram was slightly misleading, as it shows an inductive sensor as having 2 wires, and a digital as having 3, which made wire it in wrong. Thanks for your help kev!
  8. Well i think i've played with the settings too much, and it didn't help with the initial crank signal problem becuase i was playing with the settings while i had no signal. Almost got there, but it just won't start! Does anyone know what angle btdc it should fire on? And yes its standalone, emerals k3 ecu, so everything is adjustable.
  9. Team south!! I love it :-) Think i've sorted crank sensor, it needed an earth rather than an earth to the ecu. Its been trying to start, with the occasional BANG (like a shotgun going off!) but just won't fire up. Any ideas???
  10. Try jacking it up and physically wobbling the wheels to see if theres movement on the bearings. I just can't see how a slow impact would cause both bearings to fail? They're quite solid bearings, they hold the hub and wheel on at 70mph+! Have you had a look at it yourself?
  11. Maybe bumped it up cause its gunna be in golf+ :-) But no, wouldn't pay that for it
  12. Is there play on the bearing when its jacked up? That could show up a knackered bearing. Has he had the tracking checked? The knock could have put the tracking out, by sounds of the rubbing, the camber of the wheel is making it rub the strut. Have a look at the opposite wheel and see if they both look the same when you look at the front of the car.
  13. Right, think i might have blown my crank sensor, or wired it in wrong. Check wiring and its going to what emerald recommend, i think? I've got a black, red and green, the black going to pin 32, red going to pin 14, green going to pin 31. Pin 32 being the mian trigger sensor earth, 31 crank sensor signal, and 14 +8v supply for external sensors. I had wired in as a +12v to the red, which makes me think i may have blown it, because now i've wired it as a +8v supply it won't work. Can any1 help with this please? Any1 had any similar problems etc?
  14. Please, that would be agreat help mate, thanks! I'm still gunna try an see if i can get a new 1, give me a ring when your free mate, cheers :-)
  15. Cheers mate, and that offer still stands, when i can get it running! Having a few issues with the ecu atm. Can't seem to get a signal from the crank sensor, the light on the emerald stays red while cranking, and not turning green like it should if the ecu is receiving a signal. I've checked and double checked all the wiring, but i had the crank on a +12v, rather than the +8v emerald said, would this have fried the crank sensor??? LC-1 is wired in, calibrated, fuel is in the tank, pumps all working and priming, the ecu reads all the info from TPS, MAP etc, so i'm bit worried! Would Camberly Aut
  16. Thank you, think i've sust it, the thing that was doing my head in was that the black/brown switched the relay on when earthed, but stayed on when the igntion is turned off. I thought it was meant to turn off with the key. Solved it by using the black/green to power another relay, which switches the black/brown on to switch the main ecu power. Then i can use the larger red/blue to power crank, cam lc-1 and ecu.
  17. so that black/brown just goes to earth when the igniton is switched on, switching the red/blue to live-power to the ecu? the emerald requires a switched live btw.
  18. Yeah looking at it tonight, and think the brown/yellow is from the engine, so i don't need to connect it? Would it be worth just earthing it out somewhere? Or just connect it with the other to the ecu?
  19. Got a bit stuck, got 3 earths going to the ecu, brown/black, brown, brown/yellow, do i have to use all of these? Also red/blue is constant live, another larger red/blue dead. Black/brown constant live too. Which 1 do i use for +12v for the ecu? I've worked out the switched power, black/green, does it need another power or will 1 be ok?
  20. Oh, just seems a bit weird that the garage fitted 2 pumps and both of them are faulty? I've seen some alarms wired into the positive feed to the pump, but your getting a positive at the pump, right? With the igniton on? And when cranking? If thats all ok then it could only be the pump, but as above i just can't see 2 pumps failing, unless they've used second hand ones.
  21. The earth goes back to the fuse box somewhere, don't exactly know where, but the 4 wires that run to the tank run up the drivers side. 2 wires will be thicker than the other 2, these are the pump wires, the brown is the earth.
