  1. Lowered a ramp with my car in the air, so the trye was under the arms, onto the tyre and damaged the ramp and my car spent an extra 2 days in the air. Started a car up after doing an oil change and realised the sump plug wasn't in and so sprayed oil all over my drive :S After being shouted at by the parents and pretty pi**ed off, I reversed my old rover out the garage and scraped the n/s front wing after a respray infront of the chap that had just done it...lol, I had to laugh or I would have cried. Since all this though I check all my work carefully and make sure everything is fine.

Sounds to me like the head bolts have been over tightened or when putting the HG on, they've dropped the CH onto it at an angle, checked it over or not wanted to bother replacing HG and over tightened to compensate for split....... I've listened to mechanics I know talk about mechanics damaging customer cars or the new components and instead of ordering another, (cost to them, ramp/garage space), just sticking it on with a temp fix so when it does fail again, they can deny liability as the customer has had it for a set period of time.

  6. Hi guys, would like to know when the next one is. I was beaten in a drag by a 206 GTi over about 500m by a good 20 meters. I'm going to guess and say you're all thinking either "your car's fu**ed" or "you can't drive". I CAN drive but the car lags from 1 - 3k revs in every gear, my thoughts on why I lost. So first gear is where it screws up. I could hear his engine, and I'm 100% sure he wasn't charged.
  7. Sorted it out guys, with the help of thomas2012, cheers for your responses though. Turns out the No'1 selecter cable was sat about 1cm up from where it should be sat on the selector.

Drove my VR for the first time today.... :-p However, halfway to my college I pulled into a parking space and couldn't select reverse.......depressed clutch and tried selcting several times but got 1st......(Yes, I pushed down on gearstick as I own another mk3). R-1-3-5 --- 2-4 1ST is in the reverse spot, 5th can only be selected by pushing down across, down and then up.........reverse engaged once while trying but tried once more and 1st again........... any ideas?? Mine is like this Atm R 1-3 -----5 2-4

  11. 92.9 on Asda and BP at J2 M6. On a similar subject. For the first time today I opened my filler panel today to look at the setup and it has a label saying to use "Only Premium Unleaded"...this is the stuff that's 13ish pence more than regular.....any opinions?
  12. I had a good one earlier. Merc flew past me on M6 between J1 -2. No cops behind until I moved into lane 3 to overtake some fag in a black BMW that kept dropping to 70 from 85ish and back up again.......mr middle lane hogger....so I checked mirrors, nothing...lane 3......Blue LIGHTS approaching fast. So I floored it in my ...1.8 SPI lol to overtake mr bmw who then decided as I was going past to floor it too.   17. That's like those fat muppets at the gym that come over and tell you a technique you're doing is "all wrong" and that you should do what they're doing and have been doing for years. Yea, cus it's obviously given you results..... Anyway, I think you should have stuck around for a few moments and asked him how a german car was a japanese and asked him for a few more vehicle tips.

  20. Well that's filled me with confidence. I bought a non runner...iming problem......putting it back together next week and I've never heard a bad thing about the VR....yes I'm on a vr site, bias lol. I have a mk3 1.8 single point Inj atm 90bhp....any guys or gals care to tell me how the difference will be/feel?
