  1. I will tomoz I think. Cheers craggsy. Thanks for the input chaps.
  2. Well I timed mine up properly, twice lol. My investigations will continue on monday I'll keep you updated, even if you're not intrested
  3. Slight Step up. It is possible that I might need a new sensor. It is the original and I know of them messing up. It is also a possibility that the timing is slightly out and I'm not getting the correct valve opening time causing too little air/fuel mixture to get in but with the mpg I get, I'm guessing it is over fueling. One thing I have noticed is that I havn't mentioned is that after 3.5k revs it misfires a couple of times before hitting 5 or 6k and that could also be causing a loss in speed. So I may need to upgrade my leads, replace the cam positioning sensor or use premium instead of reg
  4. Lambda was working properly, so was maf....though I had them replaced with the same results. Plugs are new, leads are new, coil pack is new. Fuel system working properly, but in all fairness, I do thing the pump and filter need changing. I understand about the exhaust and I do want a cat back system with good flow but I have no idea which to go for....plus it needs to be worked on to replace with a cat before an MOT. I don't know, maybe with all the stuff I read on here and vids I watched, I must have just got myself into a dream that wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Don't get me wrong tho
  5. I don't own a bbq, especially one that fits into my car lol. I'm sure lots of snacks will suffice. Driving lisence is taken everywhere with me anyway Craggsy, I have one of those too, that also goes everywhere with me
  6. Right, I made a comment on a previous post that I was beaten by a 206 gti and some of you said that a 180 would kick my backside. My friends stock 1.6 8v astra keeps up with me, I was completely thrashed by a new clio 182 sport earlier from stand still and then again from a rolling 30mph while I was in 2nd gear. The other day I was left by a 1.8 stock escort and also being kept up with by a 68bhp 1.2 nova stock. A mark 3 astra 1.6 16v sport kicked my ass too. My vehicle has, 1,234 miles ago, had a complete head rebuild, new valves...the whole deal and I have never taken it above 2.5 - 3000 rev
  7. I'm guessing a cooling bag or somthing full of snacks/ sandwiches. I'd take a tent me thinks because unless my gf is at work, like mike, I doubt she'd be up for the car. Do we get a kind of vr6oc plot that we can all park in or is it kinda scattered?.
  8. If it goes further, then I may just go to the papers. Craggsy, they're still here....where abouts did you work? Yea, I smile when I think of the injuries he sustained.
  9. I'll be there If I'm not going to be intruding. What do you all take? Booze is an essential I understand and a tent....anything else?
  10. Buddy' date=' I'm from a village on the outskirts of nuneaton, but we have all the teens from all the crap areas of nuneaton congregate here. These are usually the failures that have been outdone in their own areas by bigger, harder, more yobish little turds and so move to an area thats trouble free. These are criminal damge di**heads that can't fight to save their lives and have parents that accept no responsibility for their actions, that are usually on the dole. We have some of the top dogs from the outlaws and other pinheads living here, but it's their kids that cause the damage........so
  11. It would be handled by a small magistrates even if it went to court anyway. The police came out an hour later and yes I did get police contact details, but no other corrrispondance. I was told to make everything legit and complete, legally, to take my vehicle details down to the local legal centre in nuneaton. I did all this. Now I remember the son being in a very drunk state, I mean to the point where his friend had to help keep him in a strait line. From what the father told me, they were down A + E from 2am but was seen at 2:15am as it was unusually quiet. I know from working in a hospital
  12. Two nights ago, my car was parked on the roadside around my friends. I stopped over during the night with quite a few bevvies. My alarm started going off at around 1:15am and I was at the window within 2 seconds to see 2 kids, 1 getting off the floor shouting in pain and the other shouting abuse at my car. The one shouting in pain punched my O/S wing mirror with his left hand and the other booted it....took it off. I was on the phone to the police and downstairs as fast as I could but they'd ran off and I wasn't able to walk in a strait line. Anyway, the next day, I got home to find my rents
  13. Yes, it is the pully, going a bit dry and the aux water pump is on its way out.
  14. I wish them all the best, unless it is a wind up, I hope they have a good life together.
  15. Yup buddy, I'd keep it and buy a crappy run around or a decent cheap run around But be prepared to be bored with its power lol. Use it at the weekends to keep your sanity.

    oooppps

Absoloutely, I waved bye to a non F/I mk 2 mr2 at some lights and a duel carrageway today.
  17. Cheers chaps, will take a look. Have had experience with taper wheel bearings and normal bearings too, so I know it isn't that and I have checked. I'll have a check of the pully tomorrow. Cheers.
  18. When I'm driving, either on or off the throttle, there is a loudish humm coming from the engine bay. It isn't the fans. I've tightened up the manifold but it's still there, I've lost a slight amount of water but I'm not getting white or blue smoke from the exhaust even when I thrape it. So I don't think the head gasket is faulty. Anybody have any clues? Cheers in advance guys n gals.
  19. I did the job at 6am this morning, but I didn't think to take any pics while I was doing it. Sorry about that. Both sides of the caliper had dug into the alloy wheel and I have 2 nice wear marks around the circumfrence and a nice big dent where the wheel was dug into. I'll upload some soon.
  20. Clonking, grinding noise and the car shuddered heavily when braking like it was about to stall, although engine speed and idle stayed the same all while driving. First I thought it was the wheel disc, collapsed bearing or screwed engine mount. Then after visiting my friend, discovred it was the top bolt on the caliper holder had sheared off. The caliper was acting like the leading shoe in a drum brake, pivoting on the bottom bolt and creating a sort of self servo action on the wheel alloy. 2 times in as many weeks, have I been towed/recovered to my house by the AA....great chaps, well, the ro
  21. May be very wrong, but sounds to me like a con. Fuel consumption will go strait up I bet.
  22. Rcf, couldn't lend me 8k could you ? :D:D
  23. Damn you all! lol. I really wanted to attend a meet. I'm working till 8pm on sunday. Can't tell you how gutted I am that I have to wait till next chuffing year . Aw well. Take some piccys if you could, please?

Is there a 6 speed gearbox out there that can be used to replace the 5spd on my 95' obd2 golf? If so, could you tell me what the pros' and cons' are? Cheers.
