  1. just pop to halfords. they do a 3 pack of blanking grommets, largest one is 25mm iirc. its a tight fit but seals nicely. i used a bit of clear silicone just to waterproof it too... edit* I am actually referring to when i drove my mk4. the same size grommet does the trick on mk3's as well, so yours would look like my sig...
  2. perfect film.. just about somes up why i love dubs. sooooo many nice motors, and people enjoying shows in any weather... damn, roll on show season lol
  3. i've always nodded at other vr drivers, tried with a few aircooled drivers but they don't seem interested... lol
  4. Looks wicked mate! agreed, a change of wheels wouldn't hurt but they look nice at the mo! I can't wait to get my solitudes off LOL
  5. LOL exacty where I had seen em too. Nice to actually see them on the car. that will look sweeeet once its lowered! cheers for the heads up on ordering them too!
  6. Wheels look very nice mate.. any side on shots? also what tyre size did you go for? I'll be looking at the same set but all silver, prob next couple of months
  7. Hi abi I had exactly the same issues as you and it turned out to be the thermostat stuck shut, not letting any coolant through. I'd look into getting that sorted as they aint too expensive... with you having no water / oil mixing its unlikely to be the headgasket tbh
  8. Get your Ram Air fitted, a decent stainless system (I went for jetex as excellent quality for the money) and you'll have made a good start.
  9. for chaucer?? think its on the original post....
  10. Something like that (ie a critical engine component) you will be best buying OEM stuff from VW etc... wouldn't want to get anything else personally.
  11. My cousin got qouted 3000 (best price) on a VR6 at the age of 20 with either 1 or 2 years no claims.... daylight robbery!! I did give him the number for brentacre (who im with) but this chaucer place sounds prettty cheap..... might give em a bell
  12. @sankys.... that was simply the tyre size fitted to all four wheels when i bought it... didn't realise they were 50's normally... @both, cheers, i had a feeling 165 would be a bit skinny... 195 45 sounds like a decent size... thanks for the replies
  13. I've managed to find someone selling 4 audi pepperpots & centres for 50 quid so seeing as my solitudes are cream crackered, i reckon i'm going to pick em up.. Now they are obviously 15's so same size / width as my solitudes.. but i'd want a slightly (not over the top) smaller profile tyre fitted so i can ease the car down over them nicely. I currently run 205/55/15's on the solitudes. Have heard 165/50/15s look good on pepperpots but will these be too small on a VR?? any other tyre sizes that people have used on solitudes / pepperpots??
  14. Very similar to a mk3 VR in terms of tuning mate, you can certainly charge the mk4 4mo's etc. I've been to see jay renshaw's mk4 a couple of times whilst picking bits up from him and everytime he swears its one of the most planted cars he has owned, corners like its on rails. plus you still got that nice (albeit a bit quieter) v6 lump to boot. well worth looking at mate
  15. LOL unless my cars buggered haha. its a really noticeable grinding noise, comes on as soon as the wheels start slipping. only seems to do it when you literaly letting it just tick over in first gear to crawl along. and it certainly slows the car down so im guessing its working properly .....
  16. I'd say chains, tensioners, clutch etc would be a good thing to look at by the time you get to a 100k. only as a precaution obviously, some VR's chains last much longer:) not sure on the oil side, though i remember from somewhere that 1ltr per 1000miles isn't unusual.
  17. as above. ive actually only noticed mine has it recently with all the snow near my house. even in thick snow if you crawl up a hill in first you can here the brakes nipping at the wheels to keep you moving steadily. crude system but its proved handy these last few weeks!!
  18. I'd have to admit to every single one of those points LOL, slowing down in front of shop windows is something i always do, but thinking about it must look pretty sad LOL. gotta love VW's
  19. yeh i think its the positive cable on the starter, then earth the other cable on the chassis?? I had this problem with my de locked mk3, i managed to break in through the boot (no rear wiper). other than that give the AA a ring
