  1. yeh it will fit fine. might need a reducer as the Vr exhausts are a bit wider bore i think, so if it's advertised as 8/16/vr6 fitment, it will usually be a suitable bore for the VR, with reducers to fit 8V's... either way it'll fit fine.
  2. it was about 40 quid per person. that includes helmet, gloves and racesuits, 2-3 practice laps, then a series of races (everyone gets 5, 3lap races). then the top 10 high scorers go into a grand prix final 5laps to win a podium finish picture, trophies for 1st 2nd and 3rd, plus a big bottle of champagne for the winner. quality day
  3. personal preference really. mines fitted with pagid discs and fast road pads, certainly knocks the speed down well... i'm sure other recommendations will follow
  4. spent yesterday with my dad and 30 other blokes at warrington speedkarting track. bloody fantastic time and can't wait to go again.. just wondered if anyone on here had been to any other decent karting tracks and could recommend some tracks worth having a go at?? my first time yesterday and i managed to lap a 1:06.14 which i was told is pretty good
  5. what you gonna do when he buys a carrera gt2? LOL just kidding.. I've heard good things about both rotrex and VF engineering chargers... seem to recall something about rotrex being fitted very low down in the engine bay and being pretty tight tho... may be wrong........
  6. I would reckon you'd stand a fair chance in a charged VR. my guess is you would need to be lookin at 300bhp minimum, and obviously a rolling start as u say... not unrealistic tho
  7. second that fella. had the same prob in wet weather, eventually just ended up constantly missing, turned out to be the coilpack LOL, but definately try the plugs and leads first as they're a much cheaper fix
  8. looks gorgeous mate. sorry if i've missed it already but where abouts did the work for ya?
  9. If it is an option, is it something that could be activated through vagcom etc using the existing abs system? or is it more involved??
  10. I actually read somewhere that highlines came with the same basic kind of traction control using the abs, but mine is pants in the wet at any speed so i would say they didnt.. anyone else no if its posible??
  11. absolutely fantastic race! never got so emotional over a few laps of F1!! well done lewis!!
  12. took mine off as it looked crap, turns out the paint was mint underneath. i know some people who took it off to find primer underneath so kee all the clips just incase!!
  13. could it not be that u bought a duff coilpack?? I had exactly the same issue and turned out to my coilpack. replaced leads and plugs first but the new coilpack sorted it. best thing to do if u can is use somones coilpack from a car you know is running properly, and see if that sorts it....
  14. Yeh i went for GSF leads, heard elsewhere to avoid them but to be honest im skint, and they turned out to be pretty decent looking leads. Time will tell how they hold up obviously. coilpack i got through a mate, almost brand new 50 quid. I'll prob replace with brand new later on in the year just for peace of mind but im a happy chap for now!!
  15. quick update. got the new coilpack on today. BINGO!!!!! all sorted, so it looks like both the leads and coilpack were shot.. can't believe how much smoother and more powerful she feels with the new parts on. cheers for ur input fellas, really chuffed!
  16. Well got some brand new leads on and wow. massive difference. you can feel the change in power, but its still bloody lumpy!! so i got a coilpack being dropped off today, should be on tonight/this weekend. hopefully that should sort it. cant afford anything else and need the car for work LOL!
  17. cheers for the responses to this. Looks like we made a bit of a balls up and forgot to change two of the six leads. checked em again the other night in the pitch black, and the two old ones were glowing blue and sparking all over the show. no idea how i didnt see them last time as they are really bad!! so this week she'll be having fresh leads and coilpack fitted, hopefully should be running a bit better then
  18. im hyde/stockport area. also take a look at www.mancvag.co.uk our little manc vw forum
  19. ahhh now that actually makes sense... coolio, sound like im after a new coil!! cheers fella, and glad urs is sorted, its not nice to drive like this!!!
  20. yeh mine is running absoultely crap, no power, judders low down and lmpy right the way through the revs, exhaust temps seem higher than normal whic i believe indicates a missfire too.. might borrow someones coil just to see
  21. yeh lad at work just suggested trying a mist of water. i hope its coilpack related and nothing more. im too skint for major engine repairs LOL cheers fellas i'll see how i get on. otherwise it'll be time for vag com!
  22. have looked on a few occasions but nothing there. not a single spark from coil or any of the leads. its almost as if the timings out rather than a miss.... very strange
  23. Hi guys. tried the search function but really just looking for suggestions. here's the symptoms: been running fine for ages, with the occasional missfire when cold on a damp day. Usually it cleared up and ran fine once warm. Last weekend i started it on another damp morning, and it was running pretty lumpy, popping etc under acceleration. thought nothing of it and just took it easy to warm it up. this time it hasn't gone away! it seems as though its firing on all 6 (as by removing any of the HT leads it gets noticeably worse than with all 6 plugged in). This weekend i have cleaned out the TB,
  24. hi thanks for thsi, could i ask if there was any arcing/ sparks fromt he coilpack?? mines running like crap at the moment and whilst stripping bits off it to check, i noticed a few small hairline cracks in the coilpack.....
