Yay! Much quickness from Germany. Does it fit? Does it f***!!!!!!!!!!!! Arrrgh! Driving me nuts. Just spent 1/2 hour farting about with the buggering thing trying to get it to fit and it's having none of it. Seems it hasn't been moulded properly, cos half the teeth don't seem to match up to the holes where they are supposed to go!!!! Any suggestions? I can get it on the corners but when I try to get it to fit the front bits it just won't stay in. Or if I try to fit it middle first (which it won't really) I can't get the corners to match up. Or do I just take a stanley knife to it and cho

Yep, you will have a new best friend for sure. The lady/man behind the counter at your local petrol station who will be putting YOUR money in THEIR till every few days...lol!!! I've had mine just over a month now and care not whether it's £50/60 a week in fuel, it's ace! Some *cough..chavs...cough* in a Polo tried to p1ss me off last night. I just couldn't be bothered to be honest, same old story, they pull up at lights, take a look at my VR badge, look a bit scared. They legged it past me cutting me up on a filter lane (oooh you're hard!!) and still only managed to get to the next set of

A raincoat is a 'regenmantel'. I will now confuse you all Python style...but apparently it is THE Funniest joke in the world. It is extremely dangerous so please do not attempt to read it or you may actually die from laughing.... Wenn is das nunstuck git und schlotermeyer? Ja! Beierhund, das oder die flipperwald gersput!!!!! *dead from even typing it* (and has anyone actually tried to translate it? tis a load of nonsense ...haha)

It was the Highways Agency that dropped the bits off my car. They already have an email asking for compensation, don't you worry! Blood and stone spring to mind...tis the Govt after all. I can but try though! And I always thought kaputt meant 'knackered' in Deutsch! Well it was 20 yrs ago I did German O'Level...err..lol

Oh dear...well what I meant was...the idea of keeping it standard for me is (rem the Toyota ad..this is the same but in reverse) .........the car you see in your rear view mirror is a VW. Which is going to be overtaking you any minute at high speed so get out of my bleedin way! Hahaha! -
And I think the answer to that is YAAAAAAY!!! lol... I am no longer the owner of a screechy whiny VR, just a nice lovely rumbly thundering engine. Wanna see the offending part?? Melted out of all recognition! The garage showed me the tensioner this morning...ohh errm it was KAPUTT!! But here's the belt the AA man rescued,,.. But, as I mentioned earlier, the nice men from the Highways Agency left my bumper lip in the road. Today I also realised they ripped off both the sort of grilles that sit under my fog lights as well for some strange reason. One was found and has been temporarily 'glue

Thanks for the kind offer! May take you up on that if I can't fit it myself. But if I balls it up I won't be able to get to Blackpool though...errr..lol Has anyone seen "Touch me I'm Karen Taylor" on BBC3? I'm kind of like that character that messes things up and then just shouts "Maaaaaaaan! Maaaaaaaaan!" when it needs fixing. Well where cars are concerned. Oh and gardening. I can do just about everything else a bloke can do DIY wise, I'm not a complete bimbo! LOL And can fix computers better than any bloke I know! :-) -
Hmm don't I know it! Have even studied the diagrams on here to do it but was blown if I am skilled enough to do it. Will post a pic of the belt when I get car back tomorrow. It's not so much snapped as err melted into a bizarre blob!

Coolio! thanks for that mate. So really I could fit this air filter myself I guess? I am reckoning on the benefit of colder air getting into engine so cleaner/a bit better fuel consumption but not necessarily any more horses from it? Thanks, you're most helpful. Tis what I like about this place! -
Hm well maybe your noise isn't the same. Basically when you are going through the revs you hear a whining noise and sometimes it gets worse whilst driving. My own fault for playing the bloody Foo Fighters at top belt all the time on the stereo as I wasn't noticing how bad it was! You know when you get the undertone rumble of the engine, well that's coupled with a real whirrrrrrrrrrr noise, which is basically the sound of the tensioner belt slipping. Best pop the bonnet and have the engine running and you will hear the belt if there is anything wrong with it. Even Tinny22 noticed it when i w

Ta. Ah well new bumper lip ordered from fleabay for £25 now so that bit's sorted at least! And an email requesting a refund of costs has gone to the Highways Agency! Well one can but try..hehe

Thanks Ben! As you can see from my Poorly VW thread, I've ALREADY had to part with cash today......boo hoo Can anyone tell me what's the difference with just buying one of these K&N air filters and/or having a full induction kit (looked at this Pipercross one but expensive) fitted. Or do I have to do both at the same time to get the benefit? Ta! -

Ah, so much for my ramblings last night about spending money on my VR! FOOK! Had to make the journey from Manchester to Newcastle this morning to meet up with some clients from work, big important job and all that. Except I didn't make it. Only made it as far as South Shields because as soon as I got off the slip road of the A194M the dreaded TENSIONER BELT fried on my car and it went bang! Up in a cloud of smoke! How ironic is it that I had it booked in with Awesome GTi on Friday to have this looked at/replaced anyway..... The nice men from the Highways Agency towed me round the corner to

Riiight...lol Erm, they're just the things I'm NOT looking to do to be honest. I don't want these 'angel eyes' things nor a debadged grill, sorry! That's going down the chavvy road IMO (sorry if you like this stuff but it's not for me). Keeping it as standard as possible but want to really make sure I keep it alive more than anything. Sorry if i misled or anything! German style plates are a maybe yes, everyone seems to have them at the mo. -

hellsVR6 replied to dwa1974's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
OUCH! What happened when it went, did you feel anything particularly? A big thud/snap etc? Just so bothered myself about getting from Mon-Fri with this here belt of mine that is being fixed, and have to drive 400 miles or nearabouts tomorrow for work, have to go up to Tyne & Wear and back again and hoping it manages the journey! -
Hmm yes but I can't see the sea........I asked for a sea view...

Thanks. Already have SS exhaust (see pic) if that's what you're referring to. If you can see it So, how much is this suspension malarky likely to cost? And do you mean a new air filter, yes? I can see the potential for that what with the colder air getting in etc. What I'm after is how much it all costs to fit, easy enough to find the cost of parts etc online but have any of you had to do what I have and literally pay someone to do these jobs for you, that's what I need to budget for over the coming months. Ta for help though! -
Right, the time has come for me to start spending money on my car. I know I need the following: 1. Most important job - tensioner belt, is in on Friday to be fixed up as I'm worried about this noise now and don't want it pinging on me when i'm on the road. 2. I know I need new rear tyres x 2, but also wheel balancing/tracking cos it is pulling when I brake hard. 3. Also looking to get brakes machined or perish the thought, replaced, as occasional squeak on front brakes. Not metal on metal, more dirt in between pad and disc. 4. Here's where you lot come in. And no, please, no suggestions
