    as soon as the drizzle outside stops i shall be attempting the replacement of my radiator and expan sion tank, the mechanics of the job look pretty simple as far as i can see but there are a couple of things i need help with: a) what is the coolant capacity for the vr6 engine? will the system need to be bled and is there a particular way i should do this? also any other advice which anyone feels i may find useful would be welcomed thanx

    right ive just finished fitting the new coil pack (thanx krave) and shes running as smooth as a babys posterior:D now i just need to sort the cooling system and ill be able to drive her again.... thanx for the advice guys:)

    ok vagcom says theres nothing wrong testing the sparking ive got no spark at all going to the centre cylinder on each bank, i seem to recall hearing that the coilpack is split into 3 each serving 2 cylinders so this seems to me an indication that it is the coilpack thats gone. any views on this would be appreciated also would like to know whether the coil pack varies at all on vr6s as ui would be interested in getting the 2nd hand one from krave as long as i can be sure its the correct part thanx

    woke up today and thought f*ck it, its a new day i'll give her one more go at starting b4 i start taking plugs out. Whoop, she started with a LOT of accelerator pedal and is REALLY lumpy running (but at least she runs) and now my radiator has started leaking too :@ im not having a good week at all:( gonna get VAGCOM plugged in this afternoon and see if there are any clues there....

    hmm might be, would that have any effect on the car starting???

    ive had my car off the road for almost a week as the windscreen was smashed, got that fixed today however now the car wont start... it turns over but wont fire, ive checked the fuel lines and all seems fine there, but strange noises seem to be coming from the coil pack area... its hard to describe but sounds almost like a gurgling noise, the way some electic kettles sound when you boil them??? im pretty sure this isnt normal and i think its the coil pack making the noises but wanted to check with u guys 1st as coil packs aint cheap... any advice would be appreciated thanx

    ok new windscreen fitted this morning, all seems good. obviously i cant tell if it leaks yet but from what i saw when he was doing it there seemed to be enough silicon to get a good seal. the windscreen was the correct one with black surround so all in all im well chuffed with £133 to get it all sorted. www.nationalwindscreens.co.uk

    i just had my windscreen smashed last nite, rining around for quotes theres a massive difference in prices: Autoglass: £337.55 (including a 30% AA discount) National Windscreens: £133.49 i know who i'm going with:) i spoke to national windscreens and made sure that they knew i needed the tinted screen for the VR6 and they said that was fine, ill let u guys know how it goes but they seem to know what theyre talkking about (fingers crossed)

    standard late wheels seem to be about 40-50 so maybe a little more than that as solitudes are less common, it depends on the condition as well, some photos would be good

    thanks for the replies guys, even knowing where they are they seem pretty invisible, i can feel the one in the side of the seat tho now i know its there.

    my mother has just bought a mk4 golf which the salesman said had side airbags however looking through the car myself i cant figure out where these are or even if it has them, the drivers seat does have airbag embossed on the side but im not sure whether this refers to the driver and passenger airbags or a side airbag system.... can anyone who has a mk4 with side airbags tell me what they look like and where they are located so i can check??? many thanx

    have u tried closing it using the "full-closure" system, my drivers window is tempremental when operated by the switch but always closes using the full closure system (pretty sure my loom is disintegrating)
