  1. Just throwing this out there but have you looked in the handbook?
  2. Ebay. Seller called pcs-uk http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/pcs-uk/?_trksid=p3911.c0.m198
  3. Sounds like your throttle body needs cleaned. See the guide here: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1116399 You should really perform TB adaptation on VAG-COM afterwards as well (as per the guide) but turn the ignition on, wait for the buzz and it should reset. Start the car and after a few miles driving should be like driving a different car...
  4. With Xenons, your headlight washers come on automatically when you spray your windscreen washers. Try it and see... it's the law apparently to have automatic hadlight washers with Xenons. Enough googling should turn up some adapters to get your new lights to fit.
  5. That price sounds about £800 too much based on prices I've been getting and what other people have been paying!
  6. Changing my warped (3rd time, don't ask!) discs for Black Diamond Combi discs and Black Diamond pads, along with new splash shields. I've heard somewhere that the lower caliper bolt needs to be renewed once you've change the pads as it's a one time use only bolt - is this true? Also, should I drain some of the brake fluid out of the resevoir before I push the pistons back or just take the top off it? *-)
  7. Some wet and dry, start off with 1500 and work down through 2000 to 2500 or 3000. Use a sanding block. Polish back up with some Megs Scratch-X by hand - I take it you don't have a machine polisher?
  8. Thanks for the reply Rodney, I have a habit of holding in the brake pedal and not applying the handbrake correctly so you're probably right. I have my eye on a set of Black Diamond Combi discs and Predator pads - any opinions appreciated...
  9. I've run out of patience with this problem... read on Put a new set of OEM discs and pads on the car last February. Within a month or so I started to notice a vibration under braking. So, thinking that I'd washed the car when the brakes were hot or gone through a puddle and soaked them, I got a new set of discs under warranty. All fine until another month or so went by and the same thing happened. My mechanic reckoned I'd done the same and so replaced them under warranty again. I asked him to check the calipers, track rods, wishbones, bushes etc and he said they were all fine - it must be wa
  10. Can we lock this thread now - pretty pointless when you look at the PL table... |-) Spurs fans - you reap what you sow.

    laptop

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/tipnote/cheap-laptop-deals The 2Gb RAM version of the Acer is £358 delivered, with an additional 4% off through Quidco = approx £344. Can't be bad...
  12. There's detailing then there's DETAILING. I followed both VXR threads from the start and each post left me more gobsmacked than the last. He is a bit of an arse from the evidence (although I don't personally know the guy so that might be unfair), for example wanting to reject the car for a crayon mark in the bodywork under the carpet (!) He probably spent £30k on that car, and will never see any of it back. At the end of the day, it's still a Vauxhall Astra! Think what £30k could have bought! Doesn't make sense...
  13. Your car looks OBD1? If so then I think you need to clean the ISV as well as the main throttle body assembly. You will also need to perform a throttle body realignment on VAGCOM (search and there is some info on ROSS-TECH. HTH
  14. It depends what you mean by "scratches". Maybe post some pics up and there's a few detailing gurus on the forum who will be able to give you some advice. Likely you'll need to rub down with 1500 - 3000 wet and dry and machine polish back up if the "scratches" are scratches deep enough to feel with your fingernail. Otherwise general swirling or marring can mostly be machine polished out (but given your question you'll be better off employing a pro detailer to get the best results as VR6 paint is hard as nails too). If you're brave go to www.detailingworld.com
  15. Welcome buddy. There's been dozens of threads about exhaust choice already - have you tried the search? Jetex or Milltek is the way to go it seems. I have a 3-box Jetex system and its probably what you're looking for. 2-box systems are a little bit louder. I would have gone for a Milltek system as the tailpipes are smaller and more discreet if I wasn't such a tight-arse! (wasn't much more tbh)
  16. Thanks fellas. I'm going to get the car up on axle stands tomorrow night and have another go at fitting the wheels. Whether I need spacers or not I think I'm going to get some to widen the stance a bit. The wheels are the same as http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?232129.0, my car is even the same colour and 3dr like these.
  17. The standard rims are 15". Mine are 16" and are also 6.5" Mk4 rims, not 7" Mk3 rims. 10mm spacers are about £30 a pair cheaper than 15/20mm spacers. I'd rather not splash out more if I don't need to...
  18. Got myself a set of these, albeit in Mk4 form, so only 6.5" wide instead of 7". Need to know what's the biggest size of spacers I can get away with to clear the calipers but not rub. Offset is 35 and car is lowered 35mm. *-)
  19. Save yourself £20 and get some Collinite 915. Most durable wax out there IMHO and looks great on my Mystic Blue VR!

  21. Well there's a sample buy set up on DW if you wanted to try it out. http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=75654
