Use the search, there's plenty of discussion about ht leads.

Im 29 with no NCB (company car for last 5 years), living in NI & paying about £880 TPF&T. What jesterwalker69 says - get a 1.0 Polo for a couple of years to get your NCB.

Whats the best stuff to make vr trim look like new
Roan replied to baz8328's topic in Bodywork and Styling
Yeh heat gun is the way forward. If you do decide on a trim product, always remember to degrease before application, or else it won't bond to the plastic. Go to www.detailingworld.co.uk - search the forums and you'll (a) waste at least a few hours and ( probably find your answer! -
There was another thread on this a while back. I think Jim Potter had 197k on his. I'm on 85k (bought November 2006 with 78k on it)

Well I got home on Friday and stripped the lock out. There's a tiny yellow plastic clip which holds the latch in the lock position which was broken. There's no way to repair it, so Saturday morning (after a nervous night where I has to disengage the alarm and fashion a new "lock" from picture wire and a G-clamp ) I checked out VAG prices - £79.51 + VAT and three days to deliver! So went up the the scrappy who bodged one off an old CL TDI, and two hours later after a bit of cursing, all was good.

Cheers for the quick reply jon - I tried that though. It seems that whatever clicks the latch shut once you close the door has come loose. No amount of fiddling helps...

Pulled up outside work this morning and shut the driver's door, only for it to bounce open without catching to lock. Thought I'd hit the lock button on the remote or left the seatbelt hanging over the sill, but no! It seems the locking pin wont move into the lock position and stay there, which has meant me leaving the car outside in the car park basically open & unlocked!! Anyone know if it might just be a quick fix or will I need a new mechanism? Also, the door card is just clipped in, and there's two screws under the inner door handle, right? I might take it off tonight and have a butc

Hi Giles welcome to the club. I posted pretty much the same thing when I got mine! You have to remember the VR6 gear selector is a cable rather than a rod, so it will naturally feel a bit looser. You can check the bushes beneath the gear knob itself and replace them if necessary, but in my experience, it's a lot of hassle for little reward. You get used to it...

Increased Idle - Sticky Throttle?
Roan replied to blackberry's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
After I cleaned my throttle body, the car was idling very high too. I made sure I sprayed loads of carb cleaner into the inlet manifold etc. It settled down after running/driving for 2-3 hours. You have to give the ECU time to re-adjust as it was probably originally compensating for the restricted air flow through your dirty TB. -
I would love to know how the heater dial housing is colour coded, but leaving the white lettering. That's kinda nice (I think). Also love the "daily driver/track weapon" mix you have there. Looks like a well straight car...

Anyone else had trouble ordering performance bits online...?
Roan replied to kalv's topic in General Chat
I have raised a Small Claims against Edworthys. No refund for over 3 months after I ordered a Gmax kit. They lied "oh it's in the post" then said it hadn't been sent as it was out of stock. So why advertise it for sale then? That's against trade descriptions. Their customer service is non-existent. They amailed me today yo ask if my "issue" had been sorted out. Lots of hassle but I'll take them for costs & interest as well. Idiots. -
I got 4 T1-Rs off camskill. About £245 delievered to Northern Ireland as I recall. Also, they were 205/40R17.

You should just need to stick the DAB aerial on the inside of the windscreen. Your analogue aerial can be left alone. Most DAB aerials are just like a credit card which you mount inside the car. Someone will no doubt prove me wrong tho..

I just ordered mine 2 days ago, along with transformer, extension and a 2 pin to 3 pin converter from ebay (so I don't have to cut the PC cable and void the warranty). I read almost every thread on detailingworld.com - some brilliant advice there. Got a 1kva transformer and extension on northerntooluk.com & went through quidco to get 10% off. About £50 delivered all in.

Just had an RAC inspectiob....lumpy idle?
Roan replied to Futch's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
An oil & fuel treatment, oil change and perhaps a clean of the throttle body will sort that out I would think. -
Because of father's day - coupon code is "DAD". Means a PC & pads is about £112 delivered!!

Do you mean the steering wheel? No, it's just one nut around the spindle. The airbag is two allen bolts on the back of the wheel, and the airbag itself pops off it's cable with a screwdriver.
-
Your forum name is very ironic... Good luck (I'm sure you'll get her back on the road better than ever)

My new steering wheel/gear knob & gaitor and handbrake gaitor arrived today (see above) (seller posted on 2 May but held up due to Parcelforce). Brilliant quality like I expected, and fitted it looks even better. I thought I had paid too much, but the new leather feels great and the wheel is a bit thicker to hold :-# & feels like a Focus ST wheel, which I love.

New wheels & suspension. Advice please!
Roan replied to Roan's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
Still on the hunt for new wheels... I have my eye on a set of TT 6 spoke ones, 17" 7J ET32 Will they fit without any scrubbing once I have the car lowered with the G-Max kit on 205/40 tyres? I know that 15" 205 50 is roughly about he same as 17 205 40 and am I right in thinking that the standard VR6 BBS wheels are 6.5J width? -
