  1. Seconded. Easy peasy. As said, it looks like a vacuum connector, so it's not a massive job to get an airtight seal with some sooopa glue or silicone sealant.
  2. If Killo can't do it, the next best bet would be Midland VW. £600 all in including clutch. You know this already Phil!
  3. i dont like woodern gear knobs...i took mine straight off...but the pillars and handbrake are different too Have you still got it?
  4. VR6 Brakes are a bit spongy anyway aren't they? Well mine are. Saying that, I haven't had the fluid changed so that might sort it out. The only real way to reduce brake pedal travel is to get stainless braided flex pipes.
  5. Hello all! I've recently upgraded my VR's standard 6.5" Component speakers to JBL GT605's, and I was expecting them to be a mile and a half better than the standard ones. Unfortunately I'm less than impressed. I'm pretty sure I've wired everything up correctly, so I'm just wondering if there's anything that could have caught me out....... Does anyone know what colours the speaker wires are? I.e. the standard wires. There are blue and white leads, brown and red, all sorts. Why couldn't they have just stuck with red and black!?!? Lol! Anyway, if anyone can help, it would be most appreciated! C
  6. have a look on www.bahnbrenner.com. You can get a full kit for under £1K. Need to get a RHD exhaust manifold though. Should set you back another £300.
  7. Should do. Of course you'll need a new mounting bracket and new belt, but there are always ways and means of making things fit! You say you've got a charge cooler? Which one? Personally I'd get the engine first. Saves having to piss about making things fit twice.
  8. Is that on all VR6's? Or just ODB2? If it's on all of them, mine doesn't work!
  9. Vavles? Aren't they a sort of duck? Sorry. I'm a tw4t for spelling mistakes. No seriously, how do you mean "one piece"? VR6 valves are one piece already..........
  10. Hmm. The VR6's naturally run VERY hot. The second pump was installed for a reason. The reason being that it prevents "heat seizing". Gav: You're lucky. Normally wthout the second pump VR6 lumps have a very short life span. There's a region in the middle of the VR6 block that gets really hot when it's running that the VW engineers couldn't route coolant channels to, basically because the cylinders are so close together. Hence the reason they installed a second pump. Anyway, get the pump back in. It might look ugly, but if you drive more than 20 miles a week you'll need it!
  11. £600. Mine's A6 TWK and that's what Reg-Transfers offered me. Although when I saw it in thier for-sale section they had it advertised for £999! So that's £399 profit for not much work at all!!!
  12. RCF' date=' out of curiosity how would the alternator and battery cause this issue? I have a similair problem so going to change HT leads tomrrow and see what gives.......... [/quote'] To be honest mate, the symptoms are pretty generic. If an earth connection between an engine and chassis rotted away or disconnected, and the owner of that car came on here and said "may car's running lumpy, it mis-fires, etc etc", I'm sure RCF's first questions (and mine) would be "How's the battery? Is the alternator charging properly? Are the leads OK?" Reason being: Spark is probably the most important thing
  13. Typically a REAL supercharger needs to force air at 30KG/s at full speed into a VR6 engine to get good results (See Rotrex's website). These fans are NOWHERE near capable of that. Plus the blades aren't sealed to force air through, they just waft it down, so any excess air pressure will just push back past the blades. Rubbish!! And I can't believe these things actually sell! There's another product on e-bay that's even worse. It looks like a saw blade bent into a circle, then had all the teeth bent into the middle. They claim that you put it on the end of your air intake, and it creates a vor
  14. Can you get these cams in Dougherty flavour?
  15. You should be able to pick up a good second hand engine without gearbox for about £400. There's actually on on the bay at the moment for £250. Fitting it, as long as it's the same ECU as the one in your car at the moment, should be a doddle. I wouldn't buy an engine that's been standing for a while out of the car and NOT strip and re-build it though. See if you can find one that "can be heard running" (there's one of those on the bay too!) so that you don't have to worry about the fact that it might have been standing for a long time. If you can, and if you've got the time/knowledge, I'd str
  16. Just to let you know; I clicked the "Price Match" tab on Motorsport World's website and they've come back to me saying they can match Europerformance's price for the 3 box system. No saving though which is a bit pants, but hey, if someone prefers Motorsport World to Europerformance for any reason, today's your lucky day! LoL!
  17. That's strange. Surely a noisy tappet should be noisy from start up? Mine are noisy for about 1/4 of a second when I start my engine, then go quiet. All my old VW's (about 5 of them) had noisy tappets that were noisy all the time. One car had two noisy tappets that started noisy, and then and then stayed noisy. Tappets are fairly straight forward to replace. I don't understand why your local garage isn't willing to sort it out. If you really get stuck, why not ask VW to sort it? It won't be that expensive, plus you'll have the peace of mind knowing that the "pro's" have sorted it. Failing that
  18. LoL! Sorry about that, I was looking at the wrong column for the prices! :$
  19. Hmm. A tick when warmed up suggests that something is loose and the cold oil (which is more viscous) is preventing the parts from knocking together. is the tick "in-time" with your engine RPM? I.e. does it tick for every one rotation of the crank? Or is it double the engine RPM? If it's double, it's a piston ring that's broken, (my first thought), if it's not, then something else is a miss. Can't think what though!
  20. http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/products/product_info.mhtml?id=172329 £40 cheaper.
  21. No points' date=' just a maximum of £1K fine. http://www.dvla.gov.uk/media/pdf/leaflets/v796.pdf
  22. And one last factor: they're metal. Metal plates are illegal would you believe.
