right a quick update ive compiled a excel spreadsheet , so i can track my budget if i take off the schimal cams which i had ordered previous to the desicion then im at 548 squids for evrything bar the turbo, if i add the cams to the build price then its 742 squids leaving just over 200 quid for gaskets and bolts etc... told ya i could do it wether or not it will is a different matter ill post the sheet later for your browsing, and hopefully the build will start next week, ill update with pictures and a list as i go.

its maonly a question for the turbo or supercharged boyus, which ones do you use? im lokking at some 4x4 saff cossie ones, and the bmw deisel units as the caps come out both ends. btw i have all my other turbo parts now bar the turbo jim p.s less than 600 quid at the mo

lizard, as im only going to run 8 psi, im plannig on using my new orig clutch, filter i already have, i also have a afr gauge, dv ive got, for the remap , im gonna leave it alone for the time being and see how it runs on standard management with just a begi fmu unit. rest of the fabrication work im doing myself , as i have a welder and cutting / mitre tools. but i no what you mean, it is the little things that add up, luckily ive had a few turbo'd motors before , so i still have some bits lying around that i can make use of. i may use the megasquirt ecu as i had one before and was impressed wi

ah yeh got that listing, i think its do-able. if you look at what you need, you need tubby, manifold, oil and water feeds, intercooler, pipework, silcon hoses , fmu unit, spacer gasket and a engine, them bits is the bulk of it. im not paying top dollar for say 440 injectors, when i no that the skyline boys throw them away after a boost upgrade ! i may use a guy called jap andy on ebay , as ive had loads of stuff of of him when i had my 200 sx's (i had 4), intercooler pipework and the downpipe will be made in house, as i have a welder and more power tools than your local plant hire shop, i al

well, ive decided to bite the bullet so to speak and build a turbo lump, im keeping it simple and for the time being only goign for 8-10 psi. yesterday i picked up a complete vr lump for 50 quid, so that will be stripped and ill replace what i need to . im gonnan order a turbo manifold from over here, so it fits and the rest is coming from the states, as its rude not to exploit the exchange rate. im gonna run a begi fmu unit to take car of the fueling , and will stick my 263 cams in it when its ready. not to sure on what intercooler yet, but im looking at someof the cossie one's ill post pics

remember though perfect touchs rr, only recorderd my car as having 184 bhp, ive now had it proven at 199.4 , 194.5 and 184? im guessing a average of the 199 and the 195 is corect , perhaps meaning that the perfect touch rr , undereads?

nah tonys 177, was when we did the rr day , befre the rebuild. and im sure as he is a mechanic by trade , that he built the engine properly

yeah, on the camcorder footage you can cleary see that he goes in to quick, probaly because i was try to mate with his bumper the corner before..he was actually a very nice guy and found the whole incident very funny. had a good day chasing him round, and topped the car out a a indicated 145mph (notice this was a private track day not a public road, before you all start) a great day out, and the vr's did well, and outperformed some much more xpensive machinery..had a few good battles with some honda preludes and some integra type r's , none of them had the legs though to stay with the vr once -

engines are the same mate, its the throttle body and a few other things that the obd2 is different with... jim

tell me about it, jim's been using the car today, and he said it now starts from hot , but idels slighty high even when warm, but a new ecu relay is on order from vw.. all ready for our trackday on saturday
-
ah, well since my last post..aftera ecu reset we managed tpo get it running, then wheni t gets hot , it wont start without a bit of throttle, so we changed the throttle body and tryed again. but no difference, i then pulled the ecu relay and cleaned it, it now starts when hot.!! so we are gonna replace the ecu relay, and go from there.it only seems to be a problem when the car has been run, so heat build up is affecting a part, so to that end the ecu relay is a possability, also when we popped the cover off the pcbon the back was corroded.

guys can anyone help??

right had the car back on the computer, its still showing the maf open /short circuit error. can anyone supply me with a list of the air flow meter pinouts /colours/voltages and the ecu pinouts.. we need to have the car fixed by friday... pm me or email me direct with any wiring diagrams you have. does anyone also no if the maf wiring, goes to the fuse box/relay orr straight to the ecu, if its the later is it possible that the orig wiring fault has spiked the ecu? if so is there a easy way to tell. thx jim

thats right , nigel took me the wrong way and then mangaged to correct HIS mistake. (did you no im a expert at manb managment, hence my refusal to admit i was at fault) -
gonna reset the cu tonight and clear any fua;lt codes...then if that dont work im gonna find the pin outs for the ecu , and check each one for dry joints etc..

tried unplugging the lambda , but no joy..the fuelling probs seem to be at low revs, as it still runs and pulss fine higher up. im gonna chuck thge laptop on it again , and see if the earth/signal fault is still there, but the plug has been checked and double checked and rewired twice. it all started after a track day, and after the car was stopped (hot) we id orig find a broken/snapped afm wire on the plug..so we have swapped the afm for a good one, replaced the plugs and leads, and tested it with a good coilpack, but still the fault remains would a dodgy ecu relay cause this problem... or sh

right, as some of you may no , my mates vr was overfuelling all the way to the ring and back...on tickover it chuckjs out neat fuel...we have changeD the mf and checked and double checke d the wiring and coilpack..weve even swapped them for mine.. what else can it be??? it sounds very rough and the plugs are black...like no spark or too much fuel idea's please jim
