  1. I CAR EABOUT MY CAR ALOT, AND I HAVE BILLS TO PROVE IT (opps sorry about caps lock), but i also have a 179000 turbo vr, im not saying dont do it, but why change it if it doesnt need it. however if it does, then dont scrimp
  2. roadtest done, it runs , drives and boooooooooooooosts ill post the results in my build thread. but it looks very promising..a few niggles to iron out , but it all works
  3. well, all my power seems to be at the top end. but i need a vacum feed to the external wastegate. so i guess its running spring pressure only. it show 4 psi at full boost and i must say, it feels quick. i hope to run 8-10 psi , but i also hope it comes in earlier than 4000 revs. but the boost it does make then is hard..i also have a few holes to plug in the intercooler, ill try and get a short vid up .
  4. well, i only changed the tensioner/s and slide rails.. worked for me , andit only cost around 30 quid..chains should be ok, as long as there is no visual sign of damage
  5. yeah, its running, hope to sort the rest tommorrow , then ill post a video.. ive got a annoying exhaust blow which i hope can be sorted by , getting some heat into the exhaust and then re-tightening the exhaust bolts.. id say maybe two days tops before its on the road proper
  6. wel, almost finished..exhaust is on ( 1 bolt to do) , oil feed is in and modified..just need to ptfe the oil feed adaptor, and the return is on , bar 1 very fiddly bolt..then i should be able to drive it. ive also wired in my volt gauge, and my boost gauge , leaving me my afr gauge to do..ive also given it . its own lamda sensor which should keep things nice and level.
  7. yeah some other problem, as mine made 195 - 199 bhp with a 6 branch and airfilter on 3 different rollers.. and it was NOT heatwrapped.. check crank sensor (probaly that), dizzy if you have one, throttle body, maf, the list goes on.
  8. ha ha , i almost belived myself then ... dont buy one mate , you'll spend more money fixing your vr after if fudges it up.
  9. what these dont work !!!!!!! shit , and it was part of my plan to compound charge the vr, i thought little charger ten big turbo , oh well there goes my pipe dream
  10. we are actualy travelling down for our hols in devon on this day..i reckon i might have to pop in and say hello
  11. nice one jake, ill see you on the strip now my vr is turbo'd
  12. doing both , and the south rr day...i will also say hello to lisa, we may still pop down in the vectra i just wont have the golf sorted in time still next week will be fun jim
  13. wont be able to make it.......but the car is running, ive just got to fit the exhaust and then i can road test it
  14. ill post a vid of it on the road, in a few days once i get some little bugs ironed out then we can have a game of guess the bhp..
  15. well, last update for a bit... IT RUNS had it runing for 30 secs or so, all is good, ive got the exhaust to fit, and the oil feed to tighten up , but it started first time, and runs smooth as a nut. roll on the testing its a day to late for north weald though , so sorry to those that wont see it..but its ready for the rr day at the end of the month some pics for you oh, dont worry about the air filter , its the only thing io had that fitted (i was loaned it by a freind) im getting a new one next week, itll fit behind the headlight opening.
  16. ha , try doing a bathroom in a weekend, thats including all the pipework
  17. 8? i though we had more than that???? ive deffo got me, gav and jim . anyways speak soon bud.
  18. no not yet , although last year i replaced everything on the car bar the paint did you finish yours, as i was watching with intrest as my mate is currently mounting a m90 or m112 (dont know which one it is) to his vr.. they should both be intresting to drive.
  19. still just under my budget as well, i think it will creep over by maybe 50 quid , as im gonna have to order two more 45 degree silicon bends..but they are only 9 quid each, so not to bad.
  20. got my sump back last night, with the return braised in..just the pipes to do now and plumb the return , which i may do tonight..
