  1. I've run speedlines with 205 tyres and coilovers in the past too without issue, can't understand why yours is catching. I support what the tiers have said though, don't break it whatever you do, Rome wasn't built in a day mate. Give the tyres some serious thought, if you've got any plans of changing wheels in the future, it might be worth doing it once and once only (as in now), or even try findin part worn tyres as a temp measure, or even temporary wheels, which I've also done in the past. Get down the scrappy and have a look for a couple of passat steels or something. There's ways and means
  2. Buy it or someone else will!!!!!!
  3. Anyone local ish to wrexham that could run a scan on a mk6 R for me please? 60 plate with what I think is haldex pump failure. Beer tokens and tea available for successful candidate!
  4. Yeah to be honest I haven't checked fuses or relays yet because I've read things talking about intelligent battery systems and voltage sensors so I panicked a bit. Just wondering if it's common or if anyone had come across it before.
  5. Anyone here have any experience with, or work for the Bavarian breed? Basically I've got an 08 325d m sport coupe and the rear heated screen has just decided to stop working?? The light in the switch still works, all heated seats etc still work fine and no battery warnings on dash. Driving into work yesterday morning I noticed the screen still misted up for some reason. Up until now it's worked a treat?

    Dilemma....

Question is, a DSG mk5 or a manual?? Having owned 2 mk4 R's obviously being manual, I'm not sure wether I'd try a DSG if I bought another one. Would love to try the launch control feature...

    Dilemma....

Get some pics of yours up and that'll help the decision making lol. Pete's got a very valid point with the unknown car, foreign country and naggy mrs scenario though,
  8. Depends what your long term plans are really, most people who do full body restos don't do all that work and spend so much to then worry about the resale value. If your planning to keep it long term, then go for it. Only you know your budget and financial situation. If however the golf is little more than a second car then I would advise against going too far in case you pass the point of no return. Hope I've been of some help....
  9. Hope you don't mind me asking, but how much did you have to shell out for those tail lights? I've been after a set for a long time, and the last pair I saw on the bay were £330!!! I do love em but not that much lol
  10. I quote directly from the wife, "well that's just silly, his speedos on the other side of the dash" no love it's because......oh never mind. Pmsl!!
  11. I'm with ur misses on this one mate, baaaaah humbug!!!

    A Sad Day

I'd love to, but I've been down the exact same route as you. 2 mk4 r32's then realised I needed to be a bit more fuel efficient so I plumped for 325d m sport Beemer. The torque from the derv engine is rather pleasing luckily I've managed to find my old vr6 and buy it back just to keep my hand in lol.
  13. I've been through exactly the same situation back in September mate, I did the dvla thing and found out mine was sorn but thankfully still alive. I googled till I was blue in the face then came across a post on another forum where someone had the suggestion on typing the reg into Google with, I think, inverted commas. For example "k221 ***" and I couldn't believe my luck. Too result on the google page was a thread on edition 38, where my old car was for sale only 30 mile from me. Needless to say that was it, it came home 3 days later. Good luck with the search, patience can sometimes pay off

That's where I get confused, it says in the thread written by Ben each file size can't be any bigger that 500kb, is that how it used to be before the new website was born? Sorry to keep going on, me and computers don't get on all that well anymore lol.

Is that a 2mb limit for a certain amount of time, for example 2mb per month then you can start again?

  18. Not a fan of the blue dash panels or bonnet but the engine has a nice contrast. Just a little bit "max power" in certain places for me. we're all different, but we have the VR6 bug
  19. Just take your time masking the letters off properly and all should be just fine. Get some pictures up when your done matey.
  20. Thanks for the tips mate ill give that a go.
  21. Time will tell, to e honest I very much doubt it, high temp is for exhaust manifolds and very high temp areas, it relies on the extreme heat to help it cure. An inlet manifold won't get anywhere near hot enough to cure the hight temp paint leading to possible chance of flaking. I painted the plastic cover once before with the letters all detailed, with normal plasticote stuff, never had a single bubble in it.
  22. I have heard good stuff about g101, I'll try and get hold if some from work, I know they used to use it for cleaning up alloys on the wagons, so hopefully there may be some kicking around the workshop. I'll have a look, anything to give the service paperwork a swerve for 10 mins lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  23. First off I bought a second hand mani off the fleabay because my existing one is smooth and polished and I wanted to keep the cast finish. Gave it a good scrub with a wire brush, clean off any dust with an air line and soak it with a solvent cleaner. I use brake cleaner. Mask it all off where it meets the lower manifold and throttle body and primer it with an ETCH primer. The etch primer is essential as normal primer won't take to aluminium properly. Then Just a final top coat with a Matt black spray. Finally lay it all out on the spare bedroom floor and wait for the fallout from the misses S
  24. Yep, been down that route, working for a haulage company gives me access to hot power wash and TFR on tap. They still streak! Guess it's just a mk3 quirk!
