easily do it for 6.5k all in if you do your homework

Nah you wont have. They started life as OZ somethings but matt and james turned them down on a lathe and refinished them into something a little different.

Thats bang on where it should be

Its a T3 flange. Good cheap turbo would be a T04 - t3 turbine and t4 compressor - older style journal bearing. you can get these for around £200. A more expensive option would be something like a GT35R ball bearing turbo - more like £1200. The older journal bearing turbo's are quite adequate, as your not really pushing them very hard. If you've got fuelling to match, and a good map, your looking at about 400bhp at 15psi. 15 psi is no real stress for a standard engine - just lower the compression and make sure your engines healthy. Theres a few VRT's in the state putting down 450+ at the whee

Of mine - yeah theres a few Here

Well... almost. Seeing as the weather was so nice today we though we'd take a pic of the 2 Ibiza's. My VR6 Turbo is on the left, James VR6 is on the right. They wernt clean i'm afraid as we'd be driving creativly for 50 miles or so beforehand. Anyway:

how wide is the pipe - if its a few mm then its for your fuel pressure reg - the silver discy looking thing on the fuel rail an inch or 2 away. If its more like 20mm, then it goes off to your brake servo. Either way its a vacuum line, so if you leave it open it sucks in unmetered air - which is why you stall.

Were developing our own. Ibiza's all done, just need to check fitmant and adjust for mk2 / mk3. all depends on interest how complete the kits will be - may work out better to supply a sort of "part bake" kit - that has all the major components all nice and cheap, but would need some custom piping etc. If there's enough interest to warrant R&D on complete kits then we'll get on it. There a post with the pics of the kit so far here Tom

Ok, new batch is in and ready to ship for those of you that were interested! Cheers, Tom.

Can we have some car specs to go with these too please? all interesting stuff. Tom.
-
Excellent, glad your sorted.
-
Not offhand - but i think its about 0.3 up on the paper one.
-
the 550 injectors you have will give you enough fuel for over 600bhp. you dont need them on a na motor!
-
Thanks No probs, send me a mail as and when. VR6Carlo - Next batch of manifolds will be ready in a week or two - PM sent with the details Tom.

12v VR golfs in the UK are AAA code and came with the crap paper gasket. Later VR's are AMY code and have the 3 layer metal gasket. I dont think the AMY came in any UK golfs, but it did come in other stuff. Namely a 1996 Sharan VR6 - AMY engine code. part numer for the metal gasket is 021 103 383N, and it will fit any UK 12v vr. As for being flat enough, if your block/head aint flat then no gasket is gonna fix that. Metal one will be fine unless somethings gone horribly wrong..... If you get stuck getting hold of one let me know and i can get it to you for about £55 plus delivery if i remembe

Thats what i was thinking. The map references engine load versus revs, and then uses compensation maps to adjust for afr, temp etc. I dont see how the map can run properly when you remove the load input - ie the maf. Only thing it can be doing is using a small part of the main map - ie the rev range with no load, and adjusting the fuelling using the compensation map of the lambda. Interesting stuff.
-
Nice one. Interesting about not running the maf. Which one were you running before, 4 or 5 wire? Tom.

As promised, here some piccies of the progress on the Ibiza. For those that dont know, in pursuit of something a little different, we put a 2.8 12v VR6 into a 1994 2l 8v ibiza last october. This was great fun for a while, but the quest for BHP always continues.... Heres the story so far...: So, first things first, we replaced the timing chains and guides, and on went the copper gasket while the box was off, we had a little play with the ratios, popped in a 3.6 final drive and the all important Quaif ATB diff And a stronger clutch After sourcing a decent quality RHD fitment manifold, on she

^^^^ What he said Turbo is trickier, lag depends on turbo choice. the more power you go for is gonna get a little more laggy. I'm after pretty high power on mine, so have compensated by fitting a lower final drive, keeping the engine higher up the revs. Tom.
-
Hi, That price was for a conversion, so not a DIY kit of parts as such. We are currently developing a RHD fitment DIY kit. Due to the nature of the conversion full 100% kits arent really possible. Some people supply them, but the fitment isnt great, and power gains small. We will shortly be able to supply all the major components - either seperatly or as a kit, Turbo, RHD manifold, Downpipe, Maf housing, injectors, boost pipes, but some other parts will be required to get a perfect fit in your particular vehicle. Will post info when its all done, but price will be very competative. For example

yeah all true enough, for a bit of power - up to around 250 ish supercharging is less greif, but if your going for big power then turbo is the way forward.
-
You can do either, depends what you need doing. On my Ibiza, we rolled the inside lip up, and the whole arch out. Bank on needing to respray your arches, you may not have to, but if your rolling them out theres a good chance the paint will crack off. Tom.
-
Yup, got one on mine at the mo, not quite finished boost pipes yet - should have the others in in the next couple of weeks Tom.

You have to be carful with kits. Firstly, as mentioned they wont fit a RHD car properly without alot of grief. Secondly, they are not big power. Most of them dont even include a spacer to drop fuelling. theres no extra fuelling in there, no way of adjusting for boost in the ecu, and uses standard ecu code. I'm not saying there crap, but they are alot of money for something that wont fit properly and wont give you big power. You'll be looking at around 250+ http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?100620 That might be of interest. For big power you'll need to sort alot more
