My 130,000 mile Vr was a bit tappity, put some synta silver in it and it's quiet as a mouse now- the last oil was put in by VW- god knows what it was?

The '50' is a percentage of the width, so a 50 profile on a 195 is less than a 205- but it's going to be bugger all, a few mm at the most.

Bit worrying that, do you know something we don't? " You are a number, not a free man"

Oh, if ,as is stated often, this information about us is readily available then why bother with ID cards? Wouldn't be about creating jobs, justifying jobs would it? Nahhh.

Interesting, the very same first post was put up on the suzuki owners club forum a few weeks ago......It would seem suzuki owners/bikers are a touch more anti establishment than Vr owners !shy !lol The way i see it, ID cards didn't help the spanish stop terroists blowing them up a year ago ,so the argument about security is a non starter. ANY measures inntroduced can and will be overcome by the criminal element, the only people who will be controlled by these cards will be the ones who generally obay the law-you and I ! Make no mistake, these cards WILL intrude on our privicy(?) This governm

Any suggestions? I'm getting a leak from the top of my windscreen, i've taken off the trim and it's cvoming out from under a metal plate that seems to be an extra layer right at the top of the 'A' pillar, just where the pillar meets the roof. It's either the sunroof drain pipes leaking into the lining or the windscreen is not sealed properly-but this was done(new screen) about 4 months ago..... Any hints, clues, suggestions? cheers, stu. !lol

Don't forget to factor in the torque figure- A big CC engined car(VR for example) will produce more grunt than a smaller engined car producing the same BHP.

Yup, work car as well as our weekend car, I try to use my motorbike for work if i can( cheaper ,quicker and more fun-sorry) but then the wife will use the VR when i'm not.

auto transmission...
squirreleater replied to dj_daniel88's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Hello mate, i've an auto for my sins-too good to pass up also!! The Box changes to 4th at about 30-35 mph, depending on loading ect, it is annoying waiting for it to change up and i too find i rev it up and lift off to get it to change-just annoying, nothing else. Mine was fitted with a new VW box at about 100.000 miles( not by me-i'm not that rich!!) I would imagine clunky changes and generally not being very smooth would be a sign of a tired box. Obviously rural miles would stress it less, i'm in the country and it spends lots of time in top. -

Noisy fuel pump- filter or pump??
squirreleater replied to squirreleater's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
No loss in performance. It's very loud outside the car, you can clearly hear it inside the car too.... Pedestrians look when i pull up alongside them wondering what it is -
Hi, i've got a constant buzzing/ humming coming from the rear end, fairly certain it's the fuel pump(i think it's outside the tank, it's very loud). Do you think it could be as simple as fitting a new fuel filter?- the old one is making the pump work too hard?? Or is my pump on it's last legs? The pump was noisy when i got the car ( DEC '05) but then quietened down, but it's back being noisy again! ( your thoughts please !lol stu. P.S. it's an early VR, GSF checked for me using the reg number.

Simple servicing questions.
squirreleater replied to squirreleater's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Thanks, got a GSF fairly local to me !lol I'll go with what the VW dealer fitted on the last service unless someone on here advises me . stu. -
Hi, i'm doing my first service on the VR since i bought it recently. Only a simple service, fluids, filters ect. Could you, the fonts of all knowledge to do with Vr's advise me the best stuff to use please? Oil? plugs? Filters? Genuine or pattern? that sort of thing. It's a high miler if that makes any difference( 133,000 and counting!) Runs like a good'en having had VW service history so far, but i'm a tight git that is quite happy to work on engines, so i prefer to do my own work. Many thanks in advance.stu.

Some one who look exactly the same as me and owns the same veicles as me (!) has been know to do only 130 in his VR6, but it is old and tired and an auto !sad But... (cough) He's also seen 170 on his bikes speedo. Apparently.......

Generally seems to be 25-30mpg, played with resetting the counter and found it can do up to 40 if your just plodding on dual carrageway/A roads, town kills it-below 20 no problem. They drink when cold, takes a good ten miles to get nice and warm and better mpg. As said, it's a cruising/distance car, certainly not a town car.

I very much doubt the astra has the legs on a VR, may produce good(ish) power, but the Vr will out grunt it easily

30 secs on my first go....

133,000, runs like a good'en

Me, i've got one, don't care if it's square, it's jolly handly And the car was too cheap to refuse, no matter how many doors it's got.
