  1. This one, Suzuki owners, V-strom forum, Purbeck and districts m/c club, south coast bike club, I like my bikes! and Vr6.
  2. Use quantum(?) sinta silver, VW and GSF sell it, about £17 a 5 litre bottle. The plug removal tool should be on the slam panel, right hand side. Doesn't look much, i nearly bought one on ebay till i realised i had one all along!!
  3. I could see our old house with my wifes mini estate outside and my fiesta xr2i on the road- i was at work on the bike.
  4. It'll sell whatever mate, i bought a tatty vr for £650 ! It goes fine, just looks a mess- but i can do it up. If you can be arsed you'll get better money overall by selling the extras seperatly.
  5. Great news, nice feeling finding a new engine is only plugs after all.
  6. Utter crap! Totally wasted a john cooper works 's' round castle coombe in my 'proper' mini( 1330, cammed, head, flywheel, ect ect ect :-p ) In modern terms an ok car, but take the mini badge off it :@
  7. i was the same mate, never had a VW before. Put my xr2i on it's roof and ended up with a tatty high miler vr6. The xr2i was in good nick with low milage but the vr6 was in a different league! never go back now- get one, you won't be disappointed
  8. finally got my tester back from a mate, so could test the supply at the head unit plug. i was surprised to find two perm feeds? so just linked out the perm and switched as i had before. the reason i posted here was i pulled the head unit out and it was warm? Thought it would need to be switched live as well? guess i'll just have to actually switch the head unit off before taking the face off now- at least i know now. Ta for the advise.
  9. BT/telecoms,data/engineers are just sparkies that can't be trusted with dangerous volyages! :-p :-p
  10. I'm a sparky- it's a good job. How old are you? you could get a job as an ' adult trainee' that pays about £8-10 an hour but you may have to pay for your college to 'show willing' to your employer. The whole construction industry is desperate for skilled tradesmen and the ways of getting qualifed are quite flexable( evenings/day release ect) Try contacting your local college for info, then maybe find a company to take you on. Decent sparks/fitters/plumbers/chippies earn about £500 a week take home quite easy- more is possible if you want to do the hours. stu.
  11. Hi all, need to know a simple thing, What are the connections on the 'power' plug for the head unit? i've a jcv and when you plug it in it doesn't have a pernament feed *-) can someone tell me what each colour is or post up a diagram? Many thanks, i've got a manual but it doesn't show the head units connections :@ cheers, stu.
  12. Roughly bung in about 45 litres and get about 250 miles to a tank. Never got near to putting 55 litres in it? ( supposed capacity)
  13. Dunno about my chains, i've got a printout proving service history, but no paperwork saying whats been done. sounds ok though.....
  14. Nice one rich. Looks a bit scruffy that VW garage LOL
  15. Splendid, thanks for that! LOL Looks like thats what i'll be doing before she uses the car on tuesday.
  16. Hi, my rear drivers side electric window has gone and stopped working. It stuck open on my wife today :@ I have pulled the trim off and found the window doesn't seem to be attatched to the bit that obviously pulls it up and down in the 'slider' . Is this common? can anyone advise the best way to fix this? Or at least take the window opening mechanism out without leaving me with an open window? Many thanks, stu.
  17. Find the VR a chuckle on dual carrageways, it's just about to get into it's stride when most cars are struggling with wind drag, like to let them tailgate me, then just bugger off into the distance :-p ~Then give them a good look when they finally catch up(i let 'em) best fun was my old tuned mini cooper(old proper one, not the german rubbish) looked standard but had everything done to the engine(about 100bhp and lowed gearing)- let 'em get up your arse, pull over and sit alongside them as they try (and fail) to get past! The look when a mini starts to pull away after it had been cruising at
  18. Hmmmm? The Vr is the quickest i've owned- over about 60! , below that my heavily tuned mini cooper would of had it. It had the legs on a WRX scooby up to about 80 when i changed to 4th(lowered gearing/diff) My mate has a mitsubushi legnum(gallant) VR4, tweeked slightly, about 330bhp, just pulls away from the Vr6 steadily :@ To compare though, my suzuki RF900 only had to short shift to keep up with it! - So, the fastest car i've owned is my old RF900 :-p
  19. You wait till you have to use a dial up connection for something once your used to BB.! Don't think i'd bother with dial up at all if i didn't have broadband.
  20. Binning it is maybe not the best thing to do. But.. On the suzuki owners club forum we have lots of threads about speeding-as you do on bikes! Truth is, the system is almost totally reliant on people sending the fine and licence without questining it-they simply cannot cope if people start to demand photgraphic proof( your right by law) or any other 'stalling' methods. If we all did it the system would crash very quickly.
  21. Tried the fuel pump or filter? Mine died recently-i could only rev to 2000rpm LOL
  22. You just need a plug socket and an extension bar( usually in the socket set) Oil in the plug hole could be a weaping rocker cover gasket?
  23. Myself , i like to have a different exhaust, but not a loud one, usually aftermarket ones are less restrictive, so better, the trick, in my opinion, is to get a quiet one.
  24. just a heads up to say ' thank you' to richie I PM'd him earlier this week about my failing fuel pump, he rung me and gave me some prices. I popped in today, out of the blue~( just 'passing' in my new works van, as you do!) he happily sorted out the bits for me at a 'reduced rate' and i'm getting them next day-tomorrow. so, top guy, thanks rich 8) stu.
