  1. Yeah the risks put me off Scooby impreza or legacy? the legacy is the same boxer engine, higher spec, twin turbo and bomb proof
  2. You want a facelift model 2001 onwards as the early ones had lots of glitches, brakes aren't really beefy enough, they cost alot to mod but they need it as a large chunk of their 260bhp is robbed by the 4wd system. Downpipes, cats, full milltek dual and a custom remap would see you 350bhp max, cost £3500 for parts and mapping and a hefty labour bill as the engine has to come out to fit the downpipes. If you want more power you need k04s and then you can really fly Several small jobs on most cars are a nightmare on an S4, like fitting a new water pump as the engine has to be pulled Basically,
  3. What can be used if you haven't got the proper tool to turn them back in? Ta
  4. I hate it when people do that, one of my mates is always doing it and I have to dead leg him, even though its not my car
  5. they are screaming out for 'big reds' behind them though
  6. Id get some megs clay and clay the car after a decent wash and dry give it another rinse use the first 2 items from the megs 3 step then autoglym super resin polish then megs 3rd step then nxt tech wax your limited as I take it you are doing it by hand, so all you can do really is minimise the swirls and use the SRP to fill other scratches and swirls get a big bag of stockinette cloth from halfords aswell (£5) use that to apply stuff and usea different microfiber to buff off each step
  7. put it this way, say it takes 50 man hours to respray a car all in (very conservative estimate) at £30 an hour in labour cost alone (also conservative) By the time the car is stripped down, blemishes repaired (rust spots, parking dings, stonechips etc) sanded down, primed, colour coat, sanded, clear coat, flat back and polish any minor inperfections (dust, condensation, runs etc) reassemble 50 hours is swallowed up easily mine had 3 rust blisters the size of a pea and a small patch under the windscreen that we found when it was removed and one on each door shut under the rubber seals,
  8. Exactly, I was going the schrick and cam route, then abandoned as a stage one kits was easier and only about £250 more in the end, if that Then a 2nd hand stage 2 pulley and redtops (£160 all in) for even more I did end up getting a schrick aswell though, had to be done Im going to be looking to sell mine at the end of the summer as I fancy a new project and more power aswell
  9. for a top quality job, with the top quality materials £3500 and upwards,

  14. speak to this lot http://www.nemesisuk.com/ UK main dealer
  15. 248's are know as a supercharged cam, but I would also say schimmels just from the track record and reviews ive seen of them. Thats what I would use anyway
  16. TBH they sound like have a go hero's that didnt know what they were doing. End of the day if the car was ok when it went in and now its balls up its thier problem and for them to sort, even if they send it somewhere that knows what they are doing at their expense or at least return it to how it was when you first took it in and fully refund you . Id say they wouldnt have a leg to stand on in small claims court
  17. I saw it on 'How its made' on discovery channel
  18. Snake oil, nothing will stay on the paint forever, its a layer of something a few microns thick, that has to deal with heat, wind, rain, washing, fallout, birdshit etc etc 1. the wet look is provided by oils and polymers 2. the main secret to getting a really smooth, shiney car is the base you start from, which you have to compound with a polisher, then for something like this to stick to would need to be wiped down with alcohol, applied and left to cure 3. Teflon is applied to frying pans by treating the surface of the pan with a very stong acid, painting the PTFE emulsion on and then baking
  19. 3 of my mates have the iphone and they have all stopped using them as they have been nothing but trouble crap reception no noise when someone calls texts arriving hours after the sender sent them nothing at all happen when someone calls and then showing a missed call a few hours later Ive got the touch and use it with my pioneer headunit so id guess the phone would aswell
  20. The older one is the same part number, minus the 'A' at the end I think
  21. air filter is down inside drivers wing, oil cooler fits easily infont of the rad or passenger side, behind bumper vent
  22. yep bang on with the stages. If your doing it you may aswell get it done in one hit and properly, so buy up the parts and store them until you have them all becasue the temps will fly up and the torque will eat standard mounts, I had stage one for a year with just the front mount done and 12 months later when I went to stage 2 did the rest, but they needed it becaus ethey were shot by then
