  1. true about the spark. AFAIK no in built immob on 1993 deffo. Is it a distributor engine?
  2. the isv is sturdy enough to use carb cleaner on
  3. glad I did it when I did. that's as much as I'm hoping to spend all weekend.
  4. all uk insurance is obliged to cover you for the minimum insurance requirements of all EU countries. you will never get it in writing that the Nordschlief is included. if pushed all uk insureres will say no.
  5. glad it's sorted without having to get the head gasket changed. that old chestnut. primarily depends on the emissions. although some jobs worth testers could quibble about it not being there even if it does pass the emissions test.
  6. my thoughts exactly Gary. I'll be following any build thread with interest for when the dreaded tin rot has its wicked way with my chassis.
  7. being featured is for premium members only although anyone can see the feature.
  8. hi, your information is correct regarding the ford part. VW also do it on it's own under a sharan part number ( I think ). there's a list of part numbers stickied in the dub chat forum. alternativly plug the hole in the intact pipe and vent the cam cover to a can, red bull seems to be the beverage of choice ;-) plug and play. you may need a jubilee clip to attach it to the cam cover.
  9. you should try getting a, nearly, 18 year old one. people never expect it to do what it does. :-) Down side is very few people get out of the way of a J reg Golf believing it to be a £50 shed.
  10. VW leads are perfectly adaquate and reasonable priced. Megnacors are also rated. anything bigger than 7 or 8 mm won't fit into the plastic engine covers. brk5eup springs to mind for the plug code, but that could just be jibberish ;-) the hall sender is at the passanger end. behind the coil pack. There is a detailed guide in the premium members knowledge vault ;-)
  11. at launch it was restricted to 174bhp due to some german tax laws. later obd2 models tend to be more like 184 as standard. news leads are roughly £70.. plugs vary greatly as some places only sell them in fours so you end up buying 2 more than you need. cleaning the hall sender is a diy job.
  12. I never get that feeling but then again I'd be old enough to be her Father, or in some places Grandfather ;-) I agree with xybers advice, a bad hall sender signal can rob you of many horses.
  13. yep they need bringing down to size. I suggest a foot off the top of them all should do. nearly time to celebrate guy fawkes at least having the balls to give it a go :-)
  14. apoxy resin can help seal the coilpacks cracks. black are older ones which have been superceeded by the blue. if you have no problems than no worries.
  15. it's the cap which controls at what pressure that happens.
  16. that could be your prob. black ones are renowned for failing. get a nice new blue one.
  17. what colour is the header tank cap?
  18. oh dear. only a year until she'll want to start driving
  19. sounds like you use the car very little. the slight white on the oil cap could just be down to condensation building up over a number of short journeys. a sniff test usually involves using the sensor from an mot emissions test, or else you can by crystals which change colour when added to contaminated coolant.
