  1. thats a bit shiney! wouldnt last long in british weather!!!
  2. the fuel rail makes a little ticking noise too, as fourmotion says vr engines can sound a bit tappety this usually clears when engine temp goes up, if something just sounds like general movement of parts thats normal, if something is rumbling or banging around thats a good sign its got issues! make sure the bodywork and interior are spot on aswell an engine is easy to find!!
  3. tell the insurance company ALL VW`S ARE IMPORTS! robbing barstards!!
  4. the chains run the two camshafts, they have guides/tensioners and when worn can rattle about and chains can slip, this causes valve damage etc etc, i have not had my vr very long and aside from taking everything apart as far as i am aware the chains on mine are ok, i think sometimes you hear horror stories and people get worried, there used to be a myth about vr6`s always eating head gaskets and water pumps, sure they do fail but any component can fail with age and wear on any brand of car, simple rule as with anything if something sounds a miss turn it off! if it overheats stop and find out w
  5. agree with dubbloke they probably got the 17 year old monkey who dosent wash very often to fit your car up after is was painted, hes never seen a vr6 in his life i expect? lets hope so anyway as any decent bodyshop should know where a badge goes?????

  8. yeah dont break it like i did new one is only
  9. in my experience you just need to fill the oil as normal, the oil pump is at the bottom so once you restart it will pump oil straight to all the places it needs to go! too messy trying to fill filters etc, i wouldnt recommend dry starting any engine!!!
  10. it should be stmped on the inlet manifold at the front between 1 & 2 intakes, if not look in your boot for the data sticker (usually under the carpet near wheel well) it will have all the codes in there engine g,box, paint code etc etc, you should also have an identical sticker in you service book if you have it?.
  11. A group of labourers have sat down to eat their lunch..... first bloke pulls out his sandwiches takes one look at them and shouts out.. F*****g woman she knows i hate ham!! and he throws them in the skip the second bloke undoes his lunchbox and also starts ranting how he hates corn beef and he would rather go hungry than eat that crap....and promptly throws them on the fire Paddy sits there & looks blankly at the two other blokes..... then throws his whole lunch bag in the bin......... the two labourers look at him and ask why did you do that for paddy? paddy says "i fucking hate cheese"

  14. you could get a digi dash (similar to astra gte) as an option on 16v golf mk2, it was a
  15. er dunno why it would be shorter i think the golf and vento bumpers are virtually the same part? r u sure its not been modded or is it an aftermarket jobbie? has it got vw numbers on the back?
  16. watch the old wd40 it ignites!!! seen it on a distributor vr6 and it made a mess! try some start right ignition sealer, it coats the leads and electrical bits with a clear coating and stops water ingress and stops shorting for a while as long as its not knackered to start with?
  17. quantum synta 10w 40 is the way to go mate!! i should have shares the amount of times i have plugged that oil, but it is "good shit" as they say!!
  18. someone was selling a vr engine in the "whats it worth" section, have a look it may be more economical/easier? and you can polish all the alloy bits while its apart!!!!
