    im know the feeling mate,you get to a stage were you wanna jack it all in! prob 1 - ive got the same,was told buy a garage it was the cv joints clicking on rotation and ive replaced 3 and it still clicking,short trips in the car i dont here the click but on motorways its there every time so ill be watching your replys to this one. prob 2 - could the spuealing noise be water not getting to your waterpump if as you say your loosing water? prob 3 - ive just done my thermastat housing as i was loosing all my water after about 2 days and couldnt see a leak untill i see the smallest amount of water

    that whirring noise is the auxillary water pump or second water pump as people call it,its placed right next the the engine wiring loom on the right hand side looking at it and yes this is normal,only get worried when its not making that noise.

    i had gsf rear bearings done and one didnt even last 20 miles,it broke siezed itself to the rear hub shaft and had to be chiezeld of!cost me alot of money so id recomend you buy vw bearings the wheel bearings from main dealer are only

    ive just bought a second had rear screen as my heating element packed in but the replacement i bought has a number plate etched on the glass,does anyone have an idear on know how i can remove this etched number plate?i know it might be impossible as its there as a security feature but i thought id ask,

    when you say front bearings what do you mean?i just had my vw mechanic do my front suspension top mounts and he didnt say anything about front bearings?where do they go and what they for?

    is it the standard vw alarm?if it is my insurance company (adrian flux)told me it WAS when the cars were built a cat 1 alarm but as alarms get better these days it is no longer a cat 1 or 2.also when i went to a alarm specialist asking if they could do a certificate to prove it even had a alarm i was told that the labour cost involved for checking that the alarm was working,installed and correctly fitted would be the same as them putting a brand new cat 1 alarm!!so it prob worth just getting a new one?gutting i no but thats what i had to do.

    new regulator and motor!mine was doing that,took it out greased it put it back and still the same,these seem to be a common problem on the mk3 ,there allways on ebay and expect to pay around

    if you have ever done a thermostat housing your self your see how shit the seals are!everything is sealed with a rubber ring and if youve got a slight pinch in it the water loss gets worse and worse,i had my chains done and it wasnt put back right,ive got all the collant plastic pipes out the car at the mo,including the thermostat housing,i had water in the same place as you and it was the seal on the end of the black tube that runs from the thermostat housing along the front of the engine to the waterpump,if i figure how to up load pics ill post them.

    is it knocking all the time(on idle) or only when driving,only asking as ive got a wierd knocking noise coming from around that area but cant find where it coming from?is it a loud knocking?

    just renewed mine fully comp,7 years no claims,31 years old with cat 2 imobilizer 563.00 was nearly 700.00 last year so im well happy.

    depends how bad the leak is?mine had a leak from the left had side (looking at it) after i had my chains done and i didnt notice any power loss,just oil loss!

    you hit the nail on the head there mate,its mental i know,how many times do you see bits being bought for well over the price you could buy it new!! its just the buying from the armchair of your own home that does it i reckon?people get lazy and want it no matter what it cost them.

    the sellers prob got a mate bidding up geniune buyers to pay more? ive noticed some buy it nows start at the buy it now price when you do click buy it now if that makes sense?dont know how it works as i dont sell stuff through ebay.

    found the kit listed now,i dont know mate,im down there tom to get an inner c.v and roll bar bushes do you want me to ask what the difference is with a kit and just a strut top mount?

    had a quick look on gsf site,part number you want is 45737 i couldnt see a kit listed for the vr6?did i miss it?as for the horn im not sure if its 2 piece i wouldnt of thought so?the only reason i found it was i had to replace the rad last month had to remove bumper,lights the lot!
