    why need pics of the horn? if you remove the lower front air grill in the bumber(left hand side looking at it) its just in front of that aint it?hope that helps

    that will be the ones! i had mine done last year when i had new shocks done and as there only cheap it was only a matter of time before they went.got mine from vw £15 each.

    as above please,gotta get new front bushes thursday but not sure what size as gsf list both 18mm or 20mm? 1997 if it makes a difference? cheers jason

    ive got a 1997 golf vr6 with passenger air bag and lower glove box but it hasnt got or anywhere to place a glove box light so when its dark you cant see nothing,do others have this or is it just mine as it seems wierd not to have one as its got all the other gadgets?

    i went 60mm and the ride quality was crap.swapped them back 500 miles later.

    thanks peeps for both replys,ill get the front wheel of and double check the pipes are secured to the struts,i know the clips your on about and if that fails ill get the inner cv dones mainly to illimanate them,ill keep this thread posted and if i dont get it sorted ill be back! cheers again jason

    fabio,all my gears select fine except reverse were i get a crunch if i try to select it to fast if its done slow it selects no probs,is revevse crunching norm or not?i had a new clutch fitted about 5,000 miles ago when i had the timing chains done the milage is currently only 75,000.is there any way i can test for a broken broken gear or is it gearbox out gob?

    my limping vr6 is now doing this clicking sound in a straight line but only above 50ish,the sound is definatley coming from drivers side front, should i do the 2 inner cv joints even though the gear box is more to the passenger side and im getting the noise from the drivers side? could this noise be any thing to do with the belt tensioner or belt its self? any wild guesses welcomed!!!ill try anything now!!!

    what sort of noise would i get if i had a cracked down pipe?how do i test for this as i hear this is a common fault on vr6?is it nackered engine mounts that cause this?

    4th engine mount? i thought there was only 3?ive only done the main gear box mount at the mo.

    cheers pete ill give that a go,i did try a satin black leather shoe dye all that done was give me black hands when ever i drove the car.

    i feel nothing through the steering wheel it gets louder as you pick up speed,it sounds just like a stone in the tyre but ive had wheels of and swapped front to backs and it still there,do you think i should buy the 2 new inner drive shafts and give that a go?i realy dont think its the inners as they aint flexing like the outer just turning,but the garage reckons as i go round a slight bend the pressure is putting the inner cv under pressure and making them click?if one of the innners were knackered wouldnt they click even when im driving straight or turning left?

    right first let me say that this problem is doing my head and wallet in,car drives fine turning left and a straight line but as soon as i turn the wheel slightly to the right im getting click,click,clickso far ive removed all plastic wheel gaurds and surronds,ive had a new wheel bearing tie rod and tie rod end, cv joint outer,4 wheel alignment and now the garage is telling me to replace both inner cv!also the replaced the gearbox mount and i must say only since the gearbox mount was replaced it has quitened down but still there,ive done £350 so far and it still doing it,ive done the usual full

    yeh thats the one but i think it would look better with the silver top removed and the origanal fitted?

    hate to think how much the steering wheel from vw is?mint second hand ones dont seem to turn up! i was quoted £75 plus vat for a new gear knob from vw but i see awsome gti have a copy for £35 that dont seem to bad,any one seen these or got one?what they like? maybee im just being fussy its only a little bit of wear but you all know what its like when somethings bugging you.

    any one know whats the best way or stuff to buff up wear on a leather gear knob and steering wheel? or is it just a case of buying new ones?
