  4. the rear window opening when you unlock aint the norm, all my windows closed ok untill one of my rear window regulators packed in and all i could get was a regulator for a 95 golf and mines a 97 and now only this window rolls down half way when i unlock the car so i think yours may of been replaced with a early model golf?when i get a 97 regulator ill let you know if it goes back to normal.jay

    Airbag Light

    told you not to worry!!
  10. oh yeh,you cant just buy the cover, its the whole air bag unit.the cover is moulded onto the back.
  11. ive got a spare black one if its the passender one that sits above the glave box,it has got a slight dent in it,well it aint a dent just were sank been pushed against it,its flattend a small area,i could take a pic if you want and post it up if you want?
  12. remove the front only part to the thermo housing(3 allen key bolts facing the radiator) pull this cover hard once the bolts are out coz its a tight push fit, when this pops of the long black pipe will be attatched to this, then wiggle it a bit pulling at the pipe to remove it from the back of water pump, did you replace housing or a garage?as this part would of been disturbed when changing themo housing and should of had new seals replaced then?your need 3 new seal, there only cheap from vw,your best to get these before doing the above.

    Airbag Light

vag-com will defo re set it and turn the light out,i did this and panicked for a day till my mate cam round plugged in the vag com and reset the air bag.in future never switch the ignition on with the airbag unplugged, its ok to unplug airbag with the ignition of as this wont send any faults out.

  16. if its the long plastic pipe that runs from the thermo housing to the back of the water pump(left had side looking at it) id say it wasnt the pipe but the rubber o seals that it sits into, these perish and leak.

  19. rear wheel bearings are pressed into the rear disks and if your not replacing the rear disks for new ones the old wheels bearings gotta be pressed out first, front disks easy, brake hoses not a prob and your best to change the brake fluid while your at it if its a realy dark almost black colour. hope thats helps, jay

  21. the ticking sound and gurgling exhaust sounds like a split downpipe or knackerd manifold gasket?was it ticking before the water problem?
  22. as tital suggests, when i use my vw touch up paint it always looks, well, touched up and crap!and what you supposed to do with the clear laquar paint?when i add this on top of the touch up it looks even worse, are you supposed to flat it down with a very light wet and dry?after the base coat?
  23. try and beat this... timing chains, clutch, all 4 wheel bearings, rear disks and pads,1 inner and 1 outercv, radiator, thermostat and thermostat housing, air con regased, tie rod and end,top mounts, front anti roll bars,4 shocks, stub axle hub, rocker cover gasket, rear bump stops, radiator fan switch,ht leads, gear box mount! most parts were fitted because they failed or starting to fail, all done in approx of the first 11months of buying the car so you aint on your own m8.and the car only done 75.000 miles!
