Raced a vauxhall carlton gsi, i started off in front couldnt lose him i slowed down as we were storming up behind cars fast!! then he got past ~ i couldnt catch him, he was pulling away from me, not by too much tho. i had a mate with me and the carlton driver was on his own which goes in his favour. in peoples opinion should the VR6 keep up with a 3.0l 24v vauxhall carlton?.

that golfs 580bhp thats what the lambo is making plus the golf is stripped out so its going to be much lighter! think im going to try and do some research on it.

i bought my '94 VR6 with 81k miles on the clock 3 months ago for £1200! prices seem really quite varied imo.

winter wheels, if he's looking for some space thru the spring, summer, autumn time i ve got 4 wheel arches that will house those wheels nicely!!! [ Edited Fri Apr 08 2005, 07:59PM ]

whos is the black vr, registration ends in EUD? luv those rims!
-
my golfs black so would be happy with black lifters. imo i think they're a nice touch and seem to tidy up the engine bay.

thats brilliant, theres some priceless pics-some harsh!

i thought it would have to be 4wd but if it was wouldnt it of kept up with the scooby thru those bends? instead the scooby pulls away, its not until they get on the straight the golf goes past it.

£30 lasts me about a week and i think i do roughly 200 miles in a week, perhaps a bit under. i do a fair amount of driving in traffic which doesnt help but the mfa still registers between 25-27mpg.

when i done a rolling road day in my vr there was a civic type r there it went on the rollers and when the v-tec kicked in it went ballistic!!!! was chating to the driver and he said it was just as mad on the road, but he would. i ve never been in a civic type r, never seen 1 go or raced 1 but judging by the way it reacted to the v-tec i bet it shifts! it was screaming and didnt red line till about 8500rpm or something stupid like that but then i guess they're built to take it.

going off the point slightly, i raced a corrado vr6 and obviously he beat me but there wasnt much in it at all! he only just got past. my golf is standard, apart from a ram air filter, i always imagined a corrado would come flying past? i know the corrado is a 2.9 and has 190bhp, manufacturers figures, but i ve never been in or seen 1 go so i dont really know what they're like.

thanks for the replys. when you say Inters do you mean gti international? if its that easy then im definately getting a pair! of Bonrath ones that is. venom motorsport do a pair for £20 is that usual price or are they cheapies? like seademon says i dont fancy the bonnet crashing down on me!
-
im thinking of doing away with the standard bonnet stay and fitting gas struts instead. is there a lot of work involved in fitting them or is it quite a straight forward job? any help would be appreciated cheers guys.

Bit noisy on cold start up

i asked my garage about oil in the vr and the book for recommended lubricants they show me said 15w 40 so thats what i use now. you could try putting some engine flush in, take it for a drive then change the oil? could be something as simple as that. -
seademon-did your ABS problem effect the running all thru the rev range? i.e miss/make it feel like its hesitating? this is what mine is doing and its really baffling me.

ipswich town centre is quite built up get a load of us together in convoy through there, that would look and sound pretty awesome!

vr666 said- the mate has had several type r hondas and apart from the new civic ive passed any other type r ive been up the road with, the civic is quick but how much cash to get one??? there was a type R civic at the rolling road day i went to sunday he spent quite a few hundred pounds tuning it only to get an extra 4bhp! granted it was making 201bhp but when they're 197bhp standard, i would of been a bit disappointed.
-
cheers briscoe. thats all been done just needs resetting. i tried to join the premium members section last night but couldnt seem to get the page up? will try again though.

my VR has an induction kit but is other wise standerd put it on a rolling road sunday and it was producing 184bhp-well chuffed! stock VR's seem to produce more power than the manufacturer say's, other cars seem to go the other way. i raced a new mini cooper S last night it just managed to make it past me but as we went thru the 120mph mark i really gained on him!!
-
they're a genuine part i think? when i took mine off i noticed it was a beru 1 and its been on since new. mines worse lower down. but tends to miss all thru the rev range. strange coz i had it on a rolling road yesterday and the bhp and torque curve seemed quite healthy?

yep ram-air. when i drive through a built up area it really barks! you can hear it echo off buildings and it turns heads. it raises a smile every time i hear it. -
mine flashes up "in 02", what does that 1 mean?
-
i used to work with some one who had a mitsubishi evo6 it was damn fast! some say they look too aggresive and ugly but personaly i think they look alright but the interior was typical japanese, so bland! i always wanted a subaru impreza for the sound but i bought a VR stuck an induction kit on and got TVR sound which im happy with.

mine is the same. you can check the coil pack by spraying a light coat of water on it if you see sparks jumping across then its arcing, probably your problem. thats what i done but there was no arcing but thats not to say its not the problem. i changed the plugs and leads and its not as bad but its still not right. i ve got cheap BBT 1s from GSF and im not convinced about them. does yours do it all thru the rev range? does it feel like its hesitating?
