  1. that was freakin weird. you replied as i was typing.
  2. Andy - come on mate, you should know this one!!
  3. Chaps, anyone know of any VW specialist or a decent trust worthy stealership in the Berkshire/Bucks area? My VR6 has VW history bar the last one. Its due for a service and i'm thinking maybe i should just stick it in the local VW garage, but thought i'd ask anyone for recommendations if anyone local to me knows of anyone. Cheers. Also any ideas how much it roughly costs for a full big service?
  4. thanks chaps, i think i'm going to invest* in the BCA. I've heard a lot about the Piper x - Great sound but mostly i've read the BCA is better. * The car is currently going to be on sale. If it doesnt sell in the next two weeks then i'm going to take a wedge of cash and sort out the performance.
  5. As you will all be aware, there are a trillion ?! air induction/filter kits for the VR. Which one is best recommended? I've heard story's about losing power on certain kits? Is this true, last thing I want is to LOSE power on a standard VR6! :@ Cheers.
  6. So Mals price is pretty much the same as a shop price? where if theres a problem you can return it, get money back, get warranty??
  7. anyone know of anyone selling any leather for a 5dr vr6?
  8. how much would they normally be mate?... i.e. in a shop.
  9. I thought that too Andy, but I had the car taken to a specialists when i first got it and they did a full diagnostics on it and it was totally clear. The mechanic said it was one the "healthiest" he had seen. It does drink silly amounts of fuel, even on the motor way on a trip to derby it was only averaging about 27mpg. I'm still not sure whether the high running costs are worth the ordinary performances from the VR6. I've got to like it much more than when i first got it.... but still not totally convinced.
  10. Acf8181 wrote.. I get 280-300 usually...you must have a very heavy foot! Blimey boys, you must all drive like Miss Daisy. I do drive with a heavy foot. Thats only way i seem to get any decent performance out of the VR! £30 will get me about 180 miles or so. Note - the engine is a bit addictive - hence a lot of high revving. 11. 250-280miles per tank?? Your having a laugh mate. You sure your VR6 hasnt been transplanted with a Diesel enigne???!
  12. Was on Ebay earlier and found this. May be interesting to someone. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=9889&item=2484872777&rd=1

  14. Andy, you seem to having a lot of problems with your car mate, you fancy replacing it with mine??!! £4K will do it!
  15. I'd be interested if the price is decen and if i can find someone down here to fit the thing!
  16. Andy i dont think the mileage is stored in the ECU but what i mean is the dealer may have records for the mileage of the engine when they service it.
  17. In terms of the checking the mileage of your new engine i honestly dont know. Although (and this is a long shot) You could get the engine number (vin) and take that to your local dealership and if the car was serviced regularly then they would have records of where it was serviced etc. I have invoices from VW at home and they state my vehicle Registration and Engine number on all invoices, so they must keep a record?...
  18. Blue smoke = Piston rings. My dad used to be a mechanic and every time we went along to check a car out (when purchasing) he would always look for the obvious sign of wear - Blue smoke from the rear when revving or starting up. Basically get the smokey engine checked but i would say its more or less facked. That would also explain the use of oil, although i understand VR6 engines are naturally juicy?
  19. Would the Galaxy engine be de tuned though? My dad has a mate who works for Ford so if its the same engine and same parts then that will save me a few quid when it comes to Service time!
  20. Are the OB1 engines quicker than the later models like mine? They certainly look the part. Also how do i make fakkin this picture smaller?!! [ Edited Thu Jun 24 2004, 10:59AM ]
  21. Erm ok its worked but it 10x too big!! How do i make it smaller?? Oh and dont laugh jst cuz its a 5 door! [ Edited Thu Jun 24 2004, 08:48AM ] [ Edited Thu Jun 24 2004, 08:55AM ] [ Edited Thu Jun 24 2004, 08:55AM ]
  22. yeah, i pay £580 fully comp. would've been £500 if i could've paid it in one go (finances didn't allow at time) [ Edited Wed Jun 23 2004, 05:57PM ] is this what you meant??! i dont think i'm doing this right, never mind. [ Edited Thu Jun 24 2004, 08:43AM ]
